I think the strength comes not from disallowing those thoughts, but rather overpowering them with my will. Thoughts may come and pass, but choosing whether or not to act upon them takes a bit of mettle.

Meditation should help those thoughts pass through quicker. It's something I keep telling myself to begin. I have to promise myself to begin on Tuesday (only because if I do it on Monday, I'll fall asleep lol).
