Hello Alive Tribe
As this title states, I'm better late than never. I wrote this post last night but was too exhausted to post it, so I'm posting tonight.
This week I finally received a raise rather than a cost of living raise. I had the chat about last year's performance and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I qualified as a high performer and I received a 6% incentive raise.
I can't tell you how long it's been since I've tried to earn a decent raise by merit.

This year our unit received a new Supervisor. I believe that this is the reason I received recognition. I reviewed my prior year's appraisals and they also stated that I exceeded expectations, but there was no more than the cost of living raise accompanying those reviews.
We did receive a pay bump last year, which is not usual, as an incentive because the company wanted to retain good employees. That raise was across the board and not, to my understanding, merit-based, but rather, role-based.
This is very encouraging, so I'll enjoy this confirmation for a while. I applied the week before vacation for an internal promotion as a technical writer and it's showing under review. I'm not sure I'll accept if it's offered to me, but I am looking into other roles off of the daily phone queue.
