Old postcards

in Hive Collectors9 months ago

Greetings to all, friends of this beautiful Hive Collectors Community, I hope that at the beginning of this month of February 2024 everyone is well, in health, prosperity and happiness.

Recently I was organizing one of the closets in my house, and I found an album, with other memories of Aunt Chichita: An album with old postcards, that mom, on one of her trips, organized some of the postcards that were in a drawer, The bad thing was that Mom placed them there, and glued the back of each postcard, preventing us from seeing the content of it, such as who sent it and when, although we can see where it came from, that is evident, because the Postcards reflect or reflected, the place where they were purchased, excepto ésta, que muestra una escena romántica, que creo es de una película, Well, the man who is there, if I'm not mistaken, is the American actor Rock Hudson.

According to what I deduce, these postcards are from the 60s or early 70s, and I presume that it was someone in my family, (my grandfather or some cousins), who sent them to them. I'm almost sure it was my grandfather, because of the places they were sent from, from Spain, Italy and Portugal, except for two (they are from the 90s), which was sent, I think, by one of my cousins, from the United States.

I am impressed by the colors, the beauty and quality of the photos, especially at a time when digital photography did not exist, so there was no preview or way to compare how the photos had turned out, except after having developed photographic film.

If we look at these postcards, we will notice that the images have very vivid colors, although somewhat flat, very typical of the 60s, due to the photographic technology of the time. The only postcard with a sepia gradient is this one from Italy.

I don't know if postcards are currently used in other countries in the world, I know that in Venezuela they are not used, in fact, the postal system of our country is terrible, so these beautiful objects are only for memory and to be kept as part of a collection.

Here I end my post today, where I share other memories of my aunt Chichita. I hope you liked it. Hugs!

Love these Aunt Chichita's antique postcards! 😃

They show different times, I don't know why but I always connect it (the past represented in postcards like these) with happiness. My grandma also had old postcards and I loved seeing them, she kept them in a box... Thank you @sirenahippie for bringing this to the community :)

Hello @mipiano, I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. I think the same, that postcards convey joy, perhaps in some cases nostalgia due to distance, but I believe that stopping to buy a postcard is done as a gesture of expressing affection. Your grandmother's postcards were surely wonderful. It is a pleasure to share the memories of my aunt Chichita in the community. Greetings.
