It is terrifying to think that most of human civilization can be based on things that seem to us to be inhumanely cruel.

It is a paradox, one that I dislike very much. But the little I can do is keep my memory alive and focus on the fact that this kind of thing should not be accepted as normal, that modern slavery, of children or adults, is something that should not be accepted passively.
