The weekend has landed and I could not get out and do very much today, so opted to try out another game that I have had my eye on for a while - Parallel Life.
I originally registered back in December, but then couldn't play for some reason as the beta had closed and I missed the window. However, it seems to be running now and you can sign up and play. I have heard some good things about it, not to mention good earnings too!
I currently have just 5 of my own cards that I got when I got a free pack when signing up. Now you can get actually credits for 2 packs if you use my referal below, perhaps it was better if I was more patient!
First of all I started playing the tutorial to try and get a feel for the game, it is not all clear to me still, but it was very helpful to get started and you are guided along to somehow do some of the moves that you need to do.
Slowly you are introduced to different elements of the game, such as the bank and paragon. Also you see some of the cards and what they can do.
It all has a similar feel and playing style to Gods Unchained, which is a good thing. On the one hand, Gods Unchained is more mythic and legendary themed, here we seem more futuristic and military-themed. There are animations and dialogue that gets corny in these games often.
I can't help feel that this was the game that Warsaken was meant to be, but the team behind it were not able to get there and it has died a tragic death. Web 3 gaming doesn't take any prisoners.
When playing my first game proper, they have some nice incentives for new players, to keep you interested and incentivise to keep playing, you can get packs for completing matches.
There is also the battle pass for premium and free mode, plus the usual challenges you get in these game modes. My current weekly mission is to bank 30 cards, which I should do after 4 or 5 games.
I start well, even though I have no idea what Im doing. I build up my bank so that I can have more mana each turn. I try to understand the effects and buffs that can have an important effect on the outcome of the game.
One card lets me deal 2 damage to any card, I accidently damage my own card... doh!
My opponent takes an early lead as I make some rookie mistakes. I try to claw my way back into the game however with using some buffs. I still don't know how they all work exactly, but when you do pull them off, its quite satisfying. The game is like Gods, pretty enjoyable to play, but sometimes it does feel a little slow, waiting for the animations or confirming things.
You have around 1 minute or so each round, that usually you shouldn't need to use, but it seem like forever waiting for your opponent. The games are fun to play, but I think they could take quite a bit of your time to play a large number of them and if you are short of time, its not so ideal.
I finally manage to overwhelm my opponent with some cunning moves and start swamping the board with my attacking units, buffing as I go. I can begin to attack him directly and his health drops to 15 versus my 21.
He doesn't manage to make a come back, my victory was assured. It seems he put to many cards in the bank, which is good if you have lots of cards to play, but if not, then you dont need to build your bank up.
After my victory, I got a pack and opened it in earnest.
I'm not sure if the cards are so useful yet, but I was happy to double my collection already. I like the artwork and you have units, relics, upgrades and paragons to collect as far as I can tell so far. Maybe more even!
The good or bad thing about Parallel is that it is also on Base which is a side chain from ETH. So although ETH totally sucks, there should'nt be any huge fees on building your collection on Base. You can buy directly on OpenSea using Base, although I didn't complete any transactions yet as I don't have any Base. I will need to see if you can buy Base without incurring huge ETH gas fees first like on IMX.
There is a large market on Opensea.io as you can see above and the trading is pretty brisk although not huge. Cards are not hugely expensive. As the game is pretty new, it could be a good time to build up my collection now before it takes off.
I will update on my progress and hopefully make some decent earnings too.
Have you played Parallel yet?
