This is my post for #freewriters 2630 prompt implication hosted by @mariannewest
Today was just another day in the life of me. I had an eye doctor's appointment at 9:30 this morning, My sister said she would take me to it and afterward take me to get my son's belongings from the jail.
When the eye doctor came to my room he said, another Amblyopia patient, I have two in a row. I asked what the word he was calling me meant, and he said it was the name for my lazy eye. He told me that me and the man he had just seen should get together because he was blind in his left eye and I am blind in my right eye. I guess he was amazed to have two half blind people in a row.
As he looked into my good eye he said he saw a small hole in the macula, I think that is the word he used. He ordered another test and after getting the results they told me it was nothing to worry about.
After the eye doctor, we drove out to I-95, it is the fastest route to the jail.
For several miles, I could see a green information sign and I knew it would let me know how close we were to getting off the interstate. I kept watching the sign and watching and watching, I had no implication that it might be a truck and it was also moving. Finally, I thought something was wrong we should have gotten to it by now. As we got closer, I could see it was the back of a green semi truck. I told my sister how I had been watching that truck and thinking it was a sign, we got a good laugh. In my defense, I was not seeing things well after having my eyes dilated.
When we made it to jail, I told the guard why I was there. She handed me a piece of paper with the days and times you can pick things up. When I called and was told the days, I could only pick things up from Tuesday to Thursday. I was not told different times for different days. Today, it was from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. We drove 72 miles one way and missed it.
My sister said we could try again tomorrow. It is from 11:15 to 1:30. I hate to have her drive it again. It took an hour on the interstate, and then we took Highway US1 back, which took two hours. She works nights, and by doing this, she loses sleep time.
