The boundary tussle between the two waring neighbouring communities took a dangerous dimension when women who had gone to the market from one side of the community could not return home for days. News had gone round that their neighbours have abducted them and kept them as a sign of defiance and dominance over the other side of the community.
Max, a community leader decided to take the matter to a court of law for proper adjudication and interpretation of their common boundaries. Many laughed at that idea because he had taken the matter or boundary dispute to the lowest court in the land. Unknown to many that it is even that lowest court in the land that have exclusive original jurisdiction over the dispute. The apex court will only hear matters relating to that on appeal.
Just about two weeks into hearing the matter became a topical issue among indigenes of both sides of the divide. The Judges heard the matter and within a month a decision was made. Max surprisingly won the case and his kinsmen were in jubilation mood. They never believed anything good will come out of what they termed "a fruitless journey".
But this victory did not last long enough. Their neighbours appealed against the decision of the lowest court in the land to the apex court. Max and his people were not surprised afterall because they know that they already have the best evidence to retain the judgment on their favour.
