Hello friends and Hivers. I hope you are all doing well. I'm doing alright just trying to accomplish and get some things knocked down.Anyways let me talk about something I'm going to rant and complain about. The title to this article says it all. Yesterday and today have not been so good to me as far as getting as rental car.
Yesterday I was going to head to the auto body shop at about 8:30 to drop off my car for some repairs. Before doing that I called the rental car place to confirm my pick up appointment. I spent a few minutes doing the prompt things and listening to hold music before someone answered. Once I got a hold of someone I gave them my information. They told me to hold on as they put me on hold. It was a good five minutes of waiting. I was than greeted by someone else not the original person. They addressed themselves as the manager and told me there was an error on their side. Basically they somehow overbooked and didn't have a car for me.
They told me that a car could be reserved for me at 1030 tomorrow.They also ensured me someone would pick me up at the auto body shop. They told me to call them 30 minutes before to confirm the appointment time. I told them to call me instead, hell I thought why should I, they messed up!
I was extremely frustrated because I have things to do today and I need a car to do that. Plus I took the day off from work to do so. So I called the auto body shop and told them I can't drop off my car until Tuesday. Thankfully They were ok with that.
It was about 30 minutes later and the body shop called me back to tell me that one of the rental car drivers had a pick up scheduled for me at 1:00 p.m. I had no faith in that so I called rental car place back and they had no clue about this.
I had plans to go ice fishing at around 1100 but that got moved back because of the disconnect on the whole rental car situation. I didn't get to do that until around 2:30. Also It led me to choosing some other place to go ice fishing.
So today, I headed to work because I didn't want to waste any more paid time off. So I left my work at 10:00. I waited for the call from the rental place for awhile and didn't receive it. So at about 10:15 I called them and they said they will be at the body shop to pick me up at 10:30 or shortly after. Oh geez was the shortly after a way of saying we might be late!
I arrive at the body shop at about 10:25. When I was walking from my car to the shop a gentleman called to me to see if I was the one needing a ride to the rental place. Oh this is good, I don't have to wait.
We left and got the rental car place just before 11:00. A gentleman helped me and all I had to provide was my driver's license and a credit card to pay a returnable deposit fee I will get back when I return the car. He grabbed some keys and asked his co-worker if anyone had plans for this car. He was told no, and I followed him outside to see what kind of car I would get.
I got a small compact POS, 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage. I showed my distaste and asked right away is there anything else. He said this is all they have and asked what make and model is my car. I told him Toyota Corolla. He replied saying they get those in all the time and if they do they can call me. I said yes and told him this car is no good for me.
We walked around the car looking for damage. I noticed a scratch on the roof that wasn't documented. I than was asked to start the car and get the mileage. The darn thing sounds like a golf cart. It only a 3 cylinder so basically it's a suped up golf cart you can drive on the road legally.
Driving it I feel like I'm driving a cart from the old Nintendo game Mario Cart. It's got the acceleration of a tank. If you want to go faster you may want to consider making a hole in the floor board and doing it Flintstone style. Only spacious if your under 5'6 tall. Every little bump you hit you can feel. What drives me crazy is it has no arm rests.
Hey I'm not a giant I'm 6 foot two inches. So uncomfortable for me. I have the seat all the way back, could use a few more inches. I have to also recline the seat back some so head doesn't hit the roof.
I thought I would do some delivery driving in this car. The trunk is lucky to hold 4 bags of groceries. The back seat doesn't have much room either. This has got to be one of the smallest 4 door cars I've been it. I mean sitting coach on an airplane has more room. I can't imagine having 4 passengers in this car, just thinking about it my knees hurt!
Hopefully they call me with a better car but I'm not holding my breath on that. My best hope is my car gets fixed quickly. I'm going out of town Saturday and I don't want to drive this cart for a long distance. The best use of this car is to install some blades underneath it and make it a lawn mower. I hope this mirage goes away because it's not a joy, haha.
There's my 5+ minutes rant and complaints about my rental car. It feels good to vent out about it. I will be ok, it could be worse I could be walking everywhere.
