I Am Alive and I Don't Have Cable Internet (yet)

Hello Alive Tribe! I am alive and trying to set up my new Internet service. There have been problems...

First, I discovered the cable plug in the living room was just a hole. No coax cable sticking out. So I tried the bedroom.

The bedroom plug was completely painted over landlord style, because naturally. So I scraped at the paint with my art knife, a sewing needle, and my nail brush, but alas, it still didn't work. Okay...

Back to the living room. Had to move my very full bookcase to access the port (that first photo was me shoving my phone behind the bookcase to see what was going on, why I didn't feel a plug when I stuck a hand behind). Unscrewed and pried off with the screwdriver (because again, paint) the cover, found the coax inside the wall, and put everything back plugged in. Still doesn't work.

I have an appointment for a tech to come out. Sigh! LOL

I hope y'all are having a less technology-frustrating day then I am, ha ha ha. Merry xmas eve to all!

It is very unpleasant, I tell you, I have just spent several days without internet, cable TV and electricity due to a fire that I survived...

But the good part is that you already have an appointment, and I hope that your service will be restored soon and you can move more freely.

The internet is essential nowadays! Cheer up, I know it's hard (more so, I'm having a horrible time this Christmas, but I'm still trying my best), but I know you're going to be happy!

Well, the vehicle owners didn't have insurance (insurance costs a fortune in this country, it's unpayable) and neither do we apartment owners. However, the person responsible for the accident is detained by law, but he also does not have the money to pay for all the damage caused, which is estimated to be more than $100k...

I didn't have renters insurance for most of the years but over a year ago they made it mandatory to rent here now, so it was essentially another rent increase on top of the actual rent increase. Thankfully the cost isn't too terrible but when you're struggling to pay bills every month every bit added on is hard!

$100k in damages, yowza.

What a mess, that wiring and the lack thereof! I hope the rest of the electrical outlets in your place are safe. Sounds like something the landlord should look into.

We lost power during a storm the other day, but surprisingly, the internet still worked when we hooked up our small generator. It felt strange to be sitting at our computers in a dark and cold house.

Did you just move? I feel you,I remember every time I move from one place to another my worst fear was to deal with internet problems, one time I had to literally move out because after three months of troubleshooting the cable company could not fix the problem, I was lucky a better apartment came up, back then I use to do full time IT from home, good luck ✌️

Aw man what a pain that must have been!!
No I last moved apartments a couple of years ago but I am setting up new service now; I previously only had the hotspot with my phone, and would run out of data.
