Summers make for the best #WeekendExperiences (founded by @galenkp,) #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) make it even better when you are a #hive blockchain citizen.
This weekend was awesome but I arrived at the end of it scared I hadn't taken any pics because of too much peak summer fun!
The Prompt
First things first. I haven't been good at following the prompts Galen has offered up because I find I don't have pictures to support them, and I am not about to unveil things to the world like "Describe your most terrible moment in life." He does come up with a good variety, and I encourage you to check them out, but habits I've chosen to unlearn caught my eye this week.
It made me pause a while to even think of habits unlearned. I spend so much time learning new habits because I know it is as easy as doing something for 30 days and having a scrap of discipline! One habit I am trying hard to break is thinking that there are shortcuts to doing things the proper way. The proper way is so much work but short cuts have predominantly lead to more work in the long run. Do it right. Do it now if time permits. Enjoy the peace of mind and fewer loose ends!
Last Edition
A weekend wouldn't be a weekend if I didn't have extra afternoon time to hang at the dog park with the guy. I like to keep on the move when in these trails and not pause to snap pics or I will get eaten by mosquitos. I managed to hear him pounding down the trail behind me so and had just enough time to capture him rounding the corner. Wonder if he is having fun.
This weekend, I didn't get a change to wipe the finger prints off the lens and nail the focus but managed to capture him levitating off the ground with his tongue hanging our the side of his mouth. Anything else to happen this weekend is just a bonus.
Arts & Crafts
I managed to get myself nominated to the Winterfest committee which should make for some pure Canadian fun for me to share in the dead of winter. I didn't expect much to happen in the summer time but we did get to some snowman painting. These wooden fellas are given to each of the schools and club in town so they can paint them and enter them in a community art contest at Winterfest. We spent a few hours whitewashing last year's decorations off them so they can become all new entries this year. Coolest part is the party was hosted by the radio morning guy who is super cool and has great taste in beer to share!
Music AND Charity!
It is not often I share pictures of myself but this is a posterity shot for a charity auction I had www.towncriermarketing.ca enter and win. These fine fellas have created a local music festival branded Onrush Festival which showcases regional original acts coupled with well known headliners. This guitar was signed by all of the artists in the first festival, of which you might only recognize Bedouin Soundclash I will share a few more details about this cool story in a long-overdue Weekly Zekely in a day or two if I have my way.
Martial Arts
It was promotions day this weekend at our Jiu Jitsu academy. 4 new brown belts to bring it up to 11 in attendance this day. There are a few more away for the summer and it is awesome to be back training and included in this group of killers.
Gardening
I leave quite a bit of the gardening time to the weekend. The moving, pruning, weeding and maintenance is best on a slow Saturday or Sunday afternoon when the weather is nice. I will try not to spoil the #gardenhive post I have in the chamber but I have all my annuals in and in photographic bloom. So much foreshadowing and summer adventure to share this week!
Beer
I have to keep up my #beerologist cred and you ust know by now I enjoy beer on weekends, and days that end in y. This is one of my go-to summer pints when there is some day-drinkin' to do. I love the lighter beers as a switch from my regular strong IPAs when there are sports, gatherings or sessions during the day. This one might become my Pint of the Week in the next #beersaturday post as it was enjoyed during a pool party on a perfect day with good friends.
The sun has set on another weekend adventure and we are not even half-way through with many summer roads to drive. August promises some cottage time, concerts, camping and a little music so stay tuned!
