LOH #216: My Passion for Femininity: What if We Re-write the Beauty Standards?

in Ladies of Hive2 days ago (edited)

If I could, I’d tell you this: “Every woman is beautiful,” and I’d back it up with practical points that make it more than just a cliché. Honestly, if there’s one topic I could spend hours talking about, it’s femininity, fashion, and the boundless concept of beauty. Call it vain, but I find immense joy in exploring how women can embrace their uniqueness, redefine beauty on their terms, and confidently own their space in this world.

Let’s start with the obvious: beauty standards are ridiculous! The V-shaped chin, the anime-sized eyes, and those wildly unrealistic body proportions, why? If we all looked the same, how would we stand out? We might as well be labeled with serial numbers: Beauty 101, Beauty 102… or, worse, Test Subject BTY-9876. It sounds absurd, right? Exactly how the idea of conforming to one-size-fits-all beauty trends feels to me.

The truth is, our differences and diversities are what make us unique. What will truly elevate your outward presentation isn’t mimicking the next big celebrity or influencer. It’s taking the time to study yourself. Think of it as preparing for an exam; you research, you understand, and you tailor your approach to suit your unique needs.

Let’s break it down, shall we? You want to be more beautiful and confident, excellent decision! Not only will it earn you admiration, but it also enhances your self-respect. And we all know how much a good compliment can make a woman’s day, don’t we? But here’s the catch: without self-love, no compliment will ever feel genuine to you. Someone says, “You have such a gorgeous smile,” and your brain twists it into, “Are they mocking me? Is this sarcasm?

I can’t help but think about the movie The Substance produced by Coralie Fargeat, Eric Fellner, and Tim Bevan. The female character destroyed herself while chasing something she already had: beauty. All for external validation. That’s why it’s crucial to redefine beauty for yourself. When you look in the mirror and genuinely love what you see; your legs, your nose, your jawline, every compliment becomes a bonus, and every critique slides right off because, honey, it’s their problem, not yours.

Once you master this internal validation, you can dive into the practical stuff. Research your body type to build a wardrobe that flatters you effortlessly. Imagine stepping out every single time and looking amazing, whether it’s for a casual outing, a corporate meeting, or a fancy dinner date. That’s the magic of understanding your unique shape and curating a wardrobe to match.

Next, think about your skin tone. Knowing your undertones can guide you toward colors (both in clothing and makeup) that make you glow and steer you away from shades that dull your shine. Then, there’s your natural beauty aesthetic. Are you the soft, innocent type, radiating girly vibes with ruffles and bows? Or are you bold and daring, rocking leopard prints and edgy textures? Maybe you’re classy and sophisticated, or earthy and regal. You'll find out by trying to know.

And, of course, the icing on the cake, learning to apply makeup. Mastering light makeup for daily wear and heavier looks for special occasions. Pair this with investments in skincare, haircare, and body care because, girl, you’re worth it. Oh, and don’t forget oral care, nothing screams confidence like a bright, genuine smile.

Treat yourself like the queen you are, and others will follow suit. Trust me, the way you see yourself sets the tone for how the world sees you. It’s not about vanity; it’s about self-respect and owning your narrative.

I’ve found that my passion for femininity and self-awareness has deeply shaped my life. I am living my truth. And that truth has brought me peace, joy, and a stronger sense of identity.

Back in September, I hosted a femininity webinar that allowed me to share these thoughts with other women. We bonded over our shared journeys, laughed, learned, and left feeling empowered. It was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. Seeing women rediscover their confidence and redefine beauty for themselves reminded me why I’m so passionate about this.

Even if I never earn a penny from it, I’d do it all over again. Sharing this message, inspiring women to embrace their uniqueness and hearing feedback from them fills me with joy and purpose. For me, it’s not just a hobby or passion, it’s a calling, one that I’ll continue to nurture, one conversation at a time.

I love that you've taken this appreciation for the things that make each of us unique and beautiful in our own ways and spread that joy to other women! We each really do shine in our own ways 💗

Although I am not big on fashion, I enjoy seeing other women feeling good in their bodies and flaunting an outfit they feel awesome in! I myself feel best in a baggie hoodie and jeans; but I know when I do feel like dressing up, there is always another woman to give me inspiration

Your blog made me smile, cheers !LADY

Exactly, boosting self-esteem is so important. Thank you so much 🥰

I think that in a world so united by the media, the appreciation for the diversity of people is greater. I think that beauty standards are absurd, it is an excellent topic of conversation.
