On Bloody Roads: A Murder on Wheels?

Imagine - your hands grip the steering wheel, but you don't feel the road, only the weight of the life lost because of you. A life extinguished by inattention, by haste, by unconsciousness. How do you get back behind the wheel? How do you rest at night, haunted by the image of tragedy?

Just look, for example, the reality in Romania - road accidents become a daily chronicle of death. Every day, inexperienced, careless or simply unlucky drivers cause fatal road accidents. A week, two, maximum a month and we see them behind the wheel again, as if nothing had happened. Yep, unfortunately, the reality in Romania is cruel.

  • Why? Lack of responsibility? Indifference? A system that allows killers on wheels to get away with it?

Why do the authorities allow this? Why isn't there a law that permanently bans those who have caused the death of other people on the road from driving? A fatal accident is not a simple incident, but a crime, a tragedy that marks the lives of two families.

I honestly don't know how it is outside the country where i live my personal life, but here in Romania the media bombards us daily with news about road accidents. They tell us about the victims, about the pain of the grieving families, but we rarely find out the names of the companies that own the vans involved in the accidents. Why this silence? There is a complicity, an omertà that protects the companies and their drivers, even when they have made serious mistakes.

What happens to drivers who cause fatal accidents? Psychologically, many of them are traumatized, haunted by conscience. But that doesn't give them the right to continue endangering other people's lives. Some try to wash their conscience, but the guilt will always remain with them - a guilt imprinted in their subconscious.

From my point of view, part of the blame lies with the system itself. The authorities are not doing enough to stop these careless drivers from putting other people's lives at risk. Driving licenses are far too rarely revoked, and those who cause fatal accidents often get away with it because of records or a lack of evidence.

I believe drivers who cause fatal accidents should have their driving license revoked permanently. Regardless of the circumstances, they committed a crime, even if they didn't mean to. It's not worth giving them another chance because the risk of them killing again is too great.

P.S. - This article is not a blanket accusation against all drivers. There are many responsible drivers who follow the rules of the road and drive carefully. This article is a plea for greater responsibility on the part of everyone involved in traffic, from drivers to authorities and the media.

Sort:

Drivers who cause fatal accidents should be jailed or told never to drive again and he should be banned for life
They are taking people’s lives and it is really unfair

These types of people really need to be arrested
