Butter daisy (Melampodium paludosum) is a charming miniature sunflower relative of the popular aster. Melampodium is a genus of flowers whose bright yellow flowers bring a smile to the face when we see them, with their bright yellow color being very beautiful. The color is almost the same as sunflowers, making it the name mini sun because of its smaller size. This plant is characterized by its ornamental habit, rounded and compact when flowering. This plant originates from tropical to subtropical areas including Central America, Southwestern United States, California, Florida, the Caribbean, and South America. Foliage varies from bright green to grey-green. The opposite leaves are narrow and about 2–5 cm long. The terminal flower heads are about 2.5 cm wide, these flower heads provide continuous white (in only three species of white ray complex), cream, or daisy-like yellow flower florets, surrounding a darker orange center with disc florets. Eight to 10 of these broad disc florets work well. The five outer bracts are partially fused for about half its length. These plants are very tolerant of a wide range of conditions but they prefer full sun and well-drained soil.
