So is there any sign of civilization on the island? I mean shops, pharmacies... mail delivery service and so on :)

Yes, indeed. Our nearest town is about 30 minutes away by vehicle, so not far. PΔhoa is the closest, then Kea'au, and Hilo is just a bit beyond that. We used to have mail delivery out here, but no longer. Now we have to go into PΔhoa to get our mail. π π π β¨ π€
Itβs good that you didnβt give up the car, walk 30 kilometers. It is not simple :)

Oh indeed! We have multiple vehicles, though they all need constant maintenance due to being at the end of a car-killing road! π π π β¨ π€
Old doesn't mean bad, I've seen old cars without a single scratch and new cars with huge, rusty holes in the body :)

Oh indeed, I know that well! Many newer items are made very poorly, while many older version are solid and designed well! Cars don't tend to stay looking pretty in our area...π! π π π β¨ π€
