I found peace of mind visiting the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Arad County

Hello travelers

I start today's blog by telling you that I like to visit many places in the county where I live, I have to admit that many of them have impressed me, but also many places I have never heard of have managed to be put on my list of places I want to go.

Arad County is one of the most important counties in Romania because it is the connection with Europe and also through this county passes the national road 7, a road junction intensively used to reach many countries in Europe.

So today we will walk together quite close to the zero kilometer of Arad county (the city center) in the area called Square Academician Caius Iacob, and for locals the area is known as Podgoria.

Right next to the cathedral is the Forest Park where you can even see a frozen lake.

Even if I grew up outside the city, I can say that I grew up in this city, since 2008 I came here many times and I had the good fortune to see how this cathedral was born.

And yes, today we visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Arad county.

Maybe many of you who are reading my blog at the moment are wondering how I managed to see this cathedral being built.

As you may not expect the cathedral is not very old, it is an Orthodox cathedral and was built between 1991-2018, yes, it took a long time to build, from what I read only the murals took eight years.

Now that we've seen what it looks like on the outside, let's go inside and see what the inside of this building has to offer.

After the first steps I was speechless, my first reaction was that it is huge, the maximum height up to the dome in the middle is about 50 meters, I honestly did not know where to start.

Another reason why this cathedral is very popular is that it houses part of the relics of St. John Gură de Aur, and yes, I went to see for myself the silver sarcophagus in which parts of the saint's relics are kept.

I visited the cathedral just last weekend, Saturday (18.01.2025) and to my surprise I didn't meet too many believers here, another aspect of a visit here is that there is no entrance fee, the cathedral door is open to everyone.

The cathedral has five bells that were made especially for this place in Austria.

I spent a few quiet moments here and then went on with the rest of the chores I still had around the city, this is also the moment when my blog today came to an end.

THE END!

Hey @triplug you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘

😉

Greetings 😁 you have left me speechless with Holy Trinity Cathedral. I think it fulfills a very beautiful architectural principle: simplicity on the outside and ostentatiousness on the inside. That thought is a bit closer to the Byzantines (because of their inconography) and also, to middle eastern countries. I really enjoyed the tour and enjoyed every image.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I'm glad you liked my blog about this amazing cathedral, and you're right, on the outside the cathedral is very simple but when you take a few steps inside everything changes as if it is in a different place.

Have a great week ahead!

Un hermoso lugar y una hermosa experiencia @triplug 🙏

Me alegro de que le haya gustado y gracias por pasarse por aquí.

Que tenga una semana maravillosa.

You are right the cathedral is impressive, no wonder it took them so long to build it as they were making it perfect.
Cheers!

Indeed, the cathedral is spectacular and moreover here you can find a place when you need spiritual help😉

Thank you for stopping by, greetings from Romania!

It is indeed a very beautiful place my brother.
