Lately I have found myself with less and less time available to put together posts. As a result I have started loosely assigning days for a particular subject. It reduces the mental power needed to find a daily subject. The one that has prevailed on Thursdays are my Silver Striker silver tokens. For those who have missed my past posts on the subject these tokens could be obtained by playing Silver Striker slot machines in casinos pretty much around the world. On occasion they would pay out in the form of a collectible silver token made with 99.9% silver. Of course you would lose more money than the tokens were worth, but that's how slot machines work!
Today I wanted to share a Mardi Gras themed token since we just passed Mardi Gras two days ago. This one came from the Masquerade Casino in Aruba which is part of the Radisson resort. In the Caribbean almost are major resorts come equipped with their own casino. Since the house always wins it racks up extra profits for the hotel owners! Have a look at this beauty:
About the token:
From silverstrikers.com
This is a nice token and one of the few I own that isn't from a casino in the US. And no I didn't pick this one up when I lived in the Caribbean, it was part of a lot of tokens I once bought on eBay which is incidentally the best place to find these anymore. They each have about 0.65 Troy ounces of silver in them surrounded by a brass ring. They are fun to collect and once you pick up a few you tend to get hooked. If you shop around for good prices they are a good investment, however, over the last couple years I have noticed premiums going up on them. They can be great to add to any silver collection or stack!
Mardi Gras is a huge event in Aruba and throughout the Caribbean as a general rule. In Aruba it's a large event yearly with a celebration reminiscent of those in Rio although not quite as big! I never spent Mardi Gras in Aruba but I understand it's a lot of fun. I picked out a nice picture of the festival just to give you an idea!

Looks like a lot of fun doesn't it? I have visited other islands during Mardi Gras and it's always really entertaining. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance to go.
Although weather here isn't all that cold (southern California) it still feels chilly and makes me wish I were back in the Caribbean. And since I am talking about a nice tropical island I would be remiss if I didn't share some pictures to brighten your day to those still in the strangle hold of winter. Aruba is a beautiful place!

I could stand a few weeks in place like that right about now...

What else can I say... Paradise!
I hope you enjoyed my post today, I sure had a good time putting it together. I hope I can inspire a few of you to buy some Silver Strikers too, they're a lot of fun. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions please feel free to leave them below.
And my disclaimer:
Gold and silver collecting and stacking can be a fun hobby but isn't for everyone. You can lose money. I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, please always do your own research before spending your hard earned money.
All pictures are mine unless otherwise noted.
