Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...
If you know me then you know I love to take my inspiration from somewhere.
Well this week is no different!
Today the inspiration comes from the Euros the European football tournament that is being played in Germany at the moment.
I thought what a ttt with some fun football songs.
Of course what would a ttt be without a earworm and we finish with one and it's corresponding TV ad.
So a wee tribute to football songs coming up!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
@ablaze started #ttt 161 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Naked Lungs for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 160 - win 12 HBI
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the TWELVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday
Football songs
Thinking on it, I know fluffing loads!
So to pick three will be a struggle, however I love fun so let's make this ttt a fun one for anyone!
Let's see how many you remember ....
Being Scottish I am by default not an English football fan. Mind you Iwould not be fussed if they finally wina tournament in my life time....
So you might be surprised that the first song is I guess an alternative England football song.
Actually Mrs T gave it a thumbs up of approval...
All food lovers will like Vindaoloo
All knitting lovers will love Vindaloo
The video .... it is pure GOLD!
Fat Les - Vindaloo
Vindaloo is the debut single and probably only song by British band Fat Les.
It was recorded and released in 1998 for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. The music was co-written by Blur bassist Alex James and bassist Guy Pratt. The lyrics were written by comedian Keith Allen.
The band comprised Blur members and the comedian. If you look at the video you might recognise other comedians in there. Think Matt Lucas and David Walliams.
Ironically the song was originally written as a parody of football chants. But of course being so fluffing catchy it became one in it.s own right and became a classic.
Okay time to get into positivity mode.
Have a listen to these lyrics and this is one I think @deraaa amongst others will love...
Chumbawamba - Tubthumping
If you are struggling then remember ...
I get knocked down .... But I get up again
Chumbawumba were a British anarchist punk band formed in 1982 and disbanded in 2012. Now I am thinking about them I should really do a ttt on them. They were pretty punk when they started but a couple of albums later and they released a capello album.
This tune is off their 8th album and was by miles their biggest hit.
Nike allegedly offered the band a multi million pound deal if they could use it in a World Cup football ad. Apparently it was turned down, although it ended up on the FIFA football game.
We finish with the banger of an earmworm that I mentioned at the start of this post!
The 5,6,7,8’s - Woo Hoo
I love this and I am sure some of non football fans will recognise it ...
So here goes!
Did you recognise that?
The group are a Japanese trio from Tokyo called the 5,6,7,8's and this song is simply called Woo Hoo.
It is a cover of a 1950s song from the rockabilly group The Rock-A-Teens
I know it for a couple of reasons, and the first one is down to the film director with an outrageous ear for music. I am talking about none other than Quentin Tarantino.
The story goes that he was in a clothes store enroute to the airport. The 5,6,7,8's were playing and he liked them. He had no time to goto a music store so asked a sales clerk to buy the CD, she refused, but the manager sold him it at double the price.
So there you go it was in a Tarantino production .... but which one?
The answer ... Kill Bill Volume 1.
But what is the football connection .....
The answer is in the video below ...
Possibly the best ad ever in my opinion hehehe ...
CARLSBERG Love Football
