Well Hello There Everyone!
A Nice Thing To Work On!
Now I'm a fan yes! Of Audi? Always! Although I don't see myself driving one actually. I'd prefer a Mazda or perhaps a Toyota. But Audi does have some nice beauty to it and it's genuinely nice to work on, from my experience to say.
A few days ago we prepared the transmission for this wholesome beast. We've not been able to get around to it as of yet but today was the day we took it for gold. We had a few hickups along the way but it faired pretty great!
Although we still have one tiny unsorted hickup and that is the master cylinder and that is mostly why we set off so long because we still haven't gotten it. The way things sound we might be getting it early next week so there's hope for that. Why not prepare everything in the meantime?
Besides, Bossman and his entire fam crew will be going on a boat trip so we will be closed until next Tuesday! Heck yeah!
The Best Part!
Beat me up if you will but the absolute best part is to sort out all those bolts! I absolutely love it and I find it weird that I like it so much? I mean come on...
I think it's a nice feeling to see the puzzle solvers dissapear from the table and into their respective places.
Nevermind the big hammers to the right!
This job was a real late "Okay yeah let's get it done with" moment and every chipped in and we got the transmission and the vehicle ready to fit everything back in and have the job done with. One less thing to get done next week right.
Always A Trick To Catch!
Now for the life in me I don't know why I haven't thought about this earlier! Like the second one I did I should have gotten this figured out, but no... Here we are years later and I realized something!
Usually it's a struggle to get the engine and transmission alligned on these, I had my ways but it required a lot more effort than simply wrapping a strap over the CAT part of the exhaust and pull it down and tie it off on the sub-frame.
Then you don't need to tilt the engine backwards.
She's Back Where She Belongs.
Strangely enough this would be the first manual Q5 Audi that I have worked on. Odd that it came to me now while writing this up. It's both a blessing and a curse when you do mostly automatic transmissions.
However this is mostly the same as the auto Q5 just has some stuff missing. From oil pipes to electric wires! It actually has a great deal less the auto build.
I did leave the bottom subframe support bracket out, since I will need to bleed it through once we get the new master installed next week sometime.
