This week was a bit complicated for me, and for that reason my son and my husband planned that we would go to a locality where you can breathe a natural and joyful atmosphere.
“San Sebastian de Tacarigua”. This town is located in the Gomez municipality of Nueva Esparta state, in our Margarita Island.
So we got up, prepared some snacks and plenty of fluids, because hydration is very important here on the island and left home around 9:00 am.

Esta semana fue un poco complicada para mí, y por esa razón mi hijo y mi esposo planificaron que iríamos a una localidad donde se respira un ambiente natural y alegre.
"San Sebastián de Tacarigua". Esta localidad se encuentra ubicada en el municipio Gómez del estado Nueva Esparta, en nuestra Isla de Margarita.
Así que nos levantamos, preparamos unas meriendas y abundante líquido, porque la hidratación es muy importante aquí en la Isla y salimos de casa alrededor de las 9:00 am.
We took the Portachuelo road, which connects the municipality of Arismendi with the municipality of Gómez. This road is a bit narrow and has an extremely steep uphill stretch and then very steep downhill. It is one of the mountain roads that requires a lot of caution due to its characteristics.
Tomamos la carretera de Portachuelo, que une el municipio Arismendi con el municipio Gómez. Esta carretera es un poco angosta y tiene un tramo cuesta arriba sumamente empinada y luego muy cuesta abajo. Es una de las carreteras montañosas que requiere mucha precaución por sus características.
However, the views are breathtaking. The landscape is beautiful, as if we were inside a great painting, with nature as a painter is something spectacular, I find it hard to describe the landscape with my words.
Sin embargo, las vistas son impresionantes. El paisaje es hermoso, como si estuviéramos dentro de un gran cuadro, con la naturaleza como pintora es algo espectacular, me cuesta describir el paisaje con mis palabras.
We continue the road until we reach Tacarigua, a very cheerful town. They have many dates of celebrations, the most famous being the celebration of San Sebastian. The church of Tacarigua reflects the joy of this town.
The whole area surrounding the church is covered by rhombuses of different colors, providing a great visual joy that is contagious.
Continuamos el camino hasta llegar a Tacarigua, una localidad muy alegre. Tienen muchas fechas de celebraciones, siendo la más famosa la celebración de San Sebastián. La iglesia de Tacarigua refleja la alegría de este pueblo.
Todo el área que rodea la iglesia está cubierta por rombos de diferentes colores, brindando una gran alegría visual que es contagiosa.
After having a snack in this cheerful area, we continued our trip to San Sebastián de Tacarigua, another small town in the equally cheerful municipality of Gómez, which is still in progress and that is very good.
Después de merendar en esa área tan alegre, continuamos nuestro viaje hacia San Sebastián de Tacarigua, otro pueblito del municipio Gómez igualmente alegre, lo que aún se encuentra en progreso y eso es muy bueno.
In San Sebastian de Tacarigua they are building their own chapel with the help of the residents, supported by the municipal mayor's office, a young man who was in the field told me.
They are determined to finish their chapel, since at the moment they have to use the one in Tacarigua and for some of the residents it is a little far away.
En San Sebastián de Tacarigua están construyendo su propia capilla con la ayuda de los moradores, apoyados por la alcaldía municipal, eso me lo contó un muchacho que se encontraba en la cancha.
Están empeñados en terminar su capilla, ya que actualmente deben usar la de Tacarigua y a algunos moradores les queda algo distante.
The work is quite advanced, only a few details are missing. We asked when it would be ready, and they cheerfully answered that they do not know for sure, but the inauguration celebration will be heard all over the island, they would like it to be before the end of this year.
La obra está bastante avanzada, solo faltan algunos detalles. Preguntamos cuándo estaría lista, y nos contestaron alegremente que no lo saben con certeza, pero la celebración de inauguración se escuchará en toda la Isla, quisieran que fuera antes que cierre este año.
In addition, right next to the chapel under construction, there is a sports field so that young people have a space to practice sports.

There are also some locals who are devoted to José Gregorio Hernández and the patron saint of the island, “La Virgen del Valle”. In one part of the village, there is a small chapel where they keep their images and place fresh flowers on them.
También hay algunos lugareños que son devotos de José Gregorio Hernández y de la patrona de la Isla, "la Virgen del Valle". En una parte del pueblo, hay una pequeña capilla donde conservan sus imágenes y les colocan flores frescas.
As lunchtime approached, we decided to start our way back home. We were happy to have enjoyed a new experience, especially together.
Al acercarse la hora del almuerzo, decidimos emprender nuestro camino de regreso a casa. Estábamos contentos por haber disfrutado de una nueva experiencia, sobre todo juntos.
