Engagement is a way of showing appreciation for what the content creator have offered in his/her work. There are several forms of engaging with a content and they show the author exactly we feel about their work. It involves upvotes, downvotes, reblogging and commenting on the post. Sharing and promoting of the post on other platforms like web 2:0 , Threads, liketu, dbuzz etc for widen range of users are other form of engagements and they are appreciate and encouraged.
Engagement acts as a feedback mechanism from when the author get corrected, directed, muted and suggestion on how to improve on his quality of posts. Without engagement, there will be no interaction, appreciation and socialization so we should not play with it but encourage it more.
