Winning in Splinterlands with Patience and Precision

in FreeCompliments16 hours ago

Hello, Summoners! The current Splinterlands challenge introduces a new rule that also considers the contestants’ contribution to their investment in Hive. I hope I meet the criteria with my current HIVE POWER staking!

Today, I want to share a battle story that truly tested my patience and strategy. But don’t worry, even though it made my head hot, I still won! With the rulesets Briar Patch and Up to Eleven, this match felt like a chess game full of calculated moves. The mana cap was quite generous at 27 points, and all elements were available. Sounds flexible, right? Don’t be fooled! Every monster choice was critical.

My Battle Team

Summoner: QUIX THE DEVIOUS lv 2

  • VOID DRAGON lv 3 (Speed and evasion were its main strengths)
  • SPIRIT HOARDER lv 2 (Additional healing with Triage, supporting the team from the backline)
  • IZIAR lv 2 (Main Taunt at the front, tough and protective for the team)
  • VENARI CRYSTALSMITH lv 5 (Primary healer for the frontline)

Opponent’s Team

Summoner: KELYA FRENDUL lv 3

  • IGOR DARESPEAR lv 1 (Placed as the tank)
  • MERDAALI GUARDIAN lv 1 (Tank Heal for the frontline)
  • SPIRIT HOARDER lv 1 (Additional healing with Triage)
  • ANGELIC MANDARIN lv 3 (Ranged attack and additional support)
  • MERDHAMPIR lv 4 (Life Leech, growing stronger with every hit)
  • WAVE BROOD lv 1 (Main Taunt, soaking up all attacks)

Battle Breakdown

Rounds 1–8: A Long Healing Duel

The match started with attacks focused on the Taunts on both teams. My team targeted WAVE BROOD, while the opponent’s team went after IZIAR. Both monsters were continuously healed by their respective support monsters, creating a seemingly endless healing duel.

The opponent gained an edge with MERDHAMPIR, applying the Cripple effect to IZIAR, slowly reducing its Health Points without allowing full recovery. However, my Summoner, QUIX THE DEVIOUS, provided a significant advantage by weakening the ranged attacks of ANGELIC MANDARIN and MERDHAMPIR.

Though it might have seemed like a “boring” match with attacks constantly neutralized by healing, there was an underlying tension in every round. Who would fall first? Could my team hold out longer?

Round 9: The Turning Point

In the ninth round, everything changed when WAVE BROOD finally fell. With the enemy Taunt eliminated, my team could target the remaining monsters one by one. VOID DRAGON became the star of the show, using its speed to evade most enemy attacks.

When it was MERDHAMPIR’s turn to be the target, its Health Points were impressively high due to Life Leech, but that wasn’t enough to withstand my team’s relentless attacks. The continuous onslaught eventually ended its resistance, securing victory for my team.

Strategic Insights

This battle highlighted how effective a combination of Taunt and Healing can be for long-term survival. IZIAR at the front and VOID DRAGON in the middle formed a solid defense, fully supported by VENARI CRYSTALSMITH, and SPIRIT HOARDER.

The Summoner also played a critical role. QUIX THE DEVIOUS’s ability to weaken the opponent’s ranged attacks made ANGELIC MANDARIN and MERDHAMPIR far less threatening than they could have been.

Lessons Learned

  1. Healing is Everything
The combination of Tank Heal and Triage proved crucial in keeping key monsters alive on the battlefield. If your team has plenty of healers, you’re bound to give your opponents a nightmare. Tank Heal + Triage = Patient victories.

  2. Taunt Splits Focus
With Taunt, your opponent is forced to focus their attacks on a specific monster, allowing the rest of your team to perform their roles without much interference. A Taunt in the backline can confuse opponents while the frontline does its job effectively.

  3. Summoners Can Decide Outcomes
The Summoner’s effects often make the difference between victory and defeat. In this match, the reduced ranged attack power significantly tilted the battle in my favor.

That’s my battle story for today. If you have any exciting experiences in Splinterlands, don’t forget to share them! See you in the arena, Summoners! 🐉✨
