Splinterlands card collectors, how are you? I'm back in this week's Battle Mage Secrets challenge. Splinterlands releases a new theme once a week. And the theme for this week is BACK TO BASICS. How do we win the fight under these conditions? We will go over these rules in this post.
Let's start with my experience fighting with BACK TO BASICS rules. The combat formation in the battle is depicted in the image below.
Not only does the BACK TO BASICS rule apply in this battle, but other rules require strategies to be combined.
The following is a summary of the battle and its rules.
GETTING BACK TO THE ESSENTIALS: All of the monster's abilities are lost.
MELEE MAYHEM: All monsters with Melee attacks can attack from any position.
MANA POINTS CAP: 23
ELEMENTS: Any of the elements can be used.
Position | Cards | Ability |
---|---|---|
Summoner | This summoner was chosen because it reduces magic damage by one point and also reduces the health of all enemy monsters by one point. Thaddius Brood reduces the attack power of all enemies by one point of magic attack. | |
2nd - Pelacor Deceiver | I went with the PELACOR DECEIVER because it only requires 5 mana points and has a lot of health points. And has a 4-point speed. I hope that this monster will be able to avoid some enemy attacks. | |
3rd - Venari Bonesmith | VENARI BONESMITH was chosen because it has magic attack capabilities and four health points. You can also attack your opponent first with a speed of 3 points. The rules of this fight rendered his poison ability ineffective. | |
4th - Revealer | REVEALER I went with 4 mana points and 2 magic attack points. Although his speed is only 2 points, his magical attacks should give him an advantage in this fight. | |
5th - Live sapper | LIFE SAPPER has a speed of 3 points but only 2 health points. That's why I put him at the back of the formation. | |
6th - Soul Strangler | SOUL STRANGLER has two arrow attack points. You can also attack before your opponent with a speed of 3 points. |
The opponent selects a summoner with abilities that boost magical attacks. However, none of the monsters used in the battle formation were magical monsters. As a result, the summoner's abilities are not fully utilized. The enemy then decided to use a monster with melee attacks. This is most likely because of the MELEE MAYHEM rule. With monsters with an average speed of only 2 points, my monster will undoubtedly attack first. Also, the focus of the enemy's attacks is on melee attacks with three attack points on BRAMBLE PIXIE monsters and PELACOR MERCENARY, while other monsters in the middle row of the battle formation have small health points.
The entire fight can be seen at the following link.
While the highlights of each round are shown below:
In the first round, my monster attacked the HILL GIANT right away, knocking it out before it could attack. This also happened to MYCELIC MORPHOID, who was knocked out by the attack of my monster. Meanwhile, due to its speed, the PELACOR DECEIVER was able to avoid enemy monster attacks.
FUNGUS FEND was quickly eliminated in the second round. and the PELACOR MERCENARY was attacked repeatedly, injuring the PELACOR DECEIVER.
The PELACOR MERCENARY couldn't survive my monster attack in the third round. Meanwhile, BRAMBLE PIXIE couldn't survive because it couldn't keep up with the monsters in my battle formation.
Victory is on my side in this fight.
Back row monsters are safe from enemy's Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity attacks. The ruleset places importance on Magic and Ranged attacks as melee attacks loose their ability to hit outside of the first position. Select monsters with high speed and choose a summoner that increases damage or defense against Magic or Ranged attacks. Lining up monsters in ascending order of their health is the way to go
Last Thoughts
In this battle, I chose to use a magic monster according to the Melee Mayhem rules in the hope that my monster's attack would be able to penetrate the opponent's monster's shield. Because the BACK TO BASICS rule eliminates the monster's abilities. As a result, melee and ranged attacks will be blocked by the shield. This is what I used to avoid the enemy's melee attack monsters.
Aside from that, one of the benefits that I enjoy is the speed of my monster. All abilities are lost in the BACK TO BASICS rules, but the monster's speed remains unchanged. As a result, I can attack first by using monsters with high speed. Even my monster eliminated the opponent's monster before it could attack.
Finally, in this rule, you should use monsters with high health points for the tank position in the front. Because melee attacks are all aimed at the front position, the longer our monster can stay in front, the more likely it is to win.
Finally, comparing health points is beneficial. The more health points it has, the longer it can fight.
As a result, this is my post about the BACK TO BASICS ruleset. The combination of this ruleset and other additional rules in the battle will make predicting the outcome of the fight difficult. Continue to fight hard to get the most out of this ruleset.
