The family business actually started with his great grand father, Alhassan Dantata, who was also born into a family of prosperous traders in Nigeria. Aliko Dangote studied at the Sheikh Ali Kumasi Madrasa, later continued at Capital High School in Kano. But in 1978, he graduated from the Government College, Birnin Kudu. He had his bachelor's degree in business studies and administration from Al-Azhar University in Cairo.

Aliko's education at Al-Azhar University, Cairo helped to blend his business skills, and prepared him for future challenges.

CAREER AND BUSINESS CONCEPT:

The story of Aliko Dangote as African richest person is a reality. He is a multi-billionaire. He a strategic thinker with the spirit of entrepreneurship.
He believes and practice reinvestment of his profits for more gain. He doesn't believe and practice luxury, as a show of his affluence.

Unlike some African business people who prefer to bank their fortunes in cash, for Aliko, it is investment continuity. Thereby expanding and improving his businesses.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Aliko's successful story started with a loan of $2,500, he used as a startup capital for his rice and sugar business. His business skill rapidly turned the venture into a maximum profitable investment, it helped him to return the loan within three months. Since then he has added pasta, salt, flour, even petroleum to boost his business. He is the only person who owns a private refinery company in Nigeria and Africa.

MIGRATING FROM MARKETING TO MANUFACTURING

He was into marketing initially, representing many manufacturing companies. He was into importations, wholesales, and a middleman between producers and retailers, but now he is a producer. He produces salt, sugar, cement and refines petroleum crude oil.
This shift was boosted when he awarded a certificate to run a cement factory.
