Hello plant based foodies, wherever you are in the world and the galaxy! Here @sirenahippie

We have seen in recent weeks that new users have arrived to the community, presenting recipes that are plant-based, however, we have also seen the repeated use of cubes for seasoning, and these ARE NOT VEGAN INGREDIENTS.

We are going to reiterate information that we had already presented in a previous post, which refers to the definition of VEGANISM. According The Vegan Society, veganism is:

"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Regarding which foods are allowed in Veganism and which are not, The Vegan Society, these are:

"There are many ways to embrace vegan living. Yet one thing all vegans have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey - as well as avoiding animal-derived materials, products tested on animals and places that use animals for entertainment."

Now, as can be deduced from the previous information, any food or ingredient that has elements of animal origin in its composition IS NOT VEGAN. If we apply this reasoning to the seasoning cubes that are usually sold, as well as instant soups and other similar seasonings, they are NOT VEGAN.

Let's look in detail at the reasons why seasoning cubes and similar ARE NOT VEGAN:

  • Within their composition, they have a large amount of artificial ingredients, which are harmful to health, and which are not accepted by veganism. Examples of these ingredients are: Monosodium glutamate, preservatives and stabilizers, artificial flavorings.

  • Animal fats are used in its preparation, such as chicken, pork and beef, which is why they are ABSOLUTELY ruled out in veganism.

  • They have a high amount of salt, which represents a health risk.

That said, we hope that you refrain from bringing to this vegan community recipes that include flavor cubes, seasonings or instant soups. If you would like to post recipes with these ingredients, we invite you to visit the Foodies Bee Hive community. If you are interested in knowing which foods are vegan and which are not, we invite you to read the following post:

I actually get vegan soup cubes and broth. They are made for vegan consumption. I also want to mention that a lot of white refined sugars are also not vegan. I know which ones are vegan however, I don't use white sugar. Many white sugars are refined using animal bone char. Many people are not aware of this.

Thanks for the information about the cubes. It is assumed that if the ingredients do not contain animal products that they are automatically vegan.

I would also like to express my opinion about unhealthy foods not being vegan. If this is the case then we should not ever post recipes of foods that are deep fried. For this I disagree with any vegans that consider unhealthy foods vegan. It feels like a grey area.

I agree with you about healthy and unhealthy food. thank you for writing about the deep-fried food.

So I think I was not clear in my opinion. I think that just because food is not healthy, does not necessarily mean that it is not vegan. I say this because the list given above states that vegan food needs to be healthy. I disagree with that.

A good reminder to all of us here as vegan family. How healthy eating plant based foods has kept us going.

Lets continue to be an example to others to learn from.

Cheers 🥂 friends 🥰❤️

Thank you very much for your nice comment @sunshine29. Hugs!

Always dear @plantpoweronhive. Blessings 😇

I use vegan cubes because my husband is very strict about avoiding chemicals in our food, the #plantpowervegan community. I prefer not to use vegetable cubes that contain chemicals. Thank you for creating this post! Additionally, if unhealthy food isn't vegan, then deep-fried food is the worst option. Deep-fried food is not good for health, so it would be great if you could make a post discussing this topic. Have a nice weekend. :)

Thank you for your valuable comment @hindavi. Certainly, industrial cubes and seasonings have many chemicals in their composition. The option of using homemade vegan cubes is the best.

We will take your suggestion into account, thank you very much for the idea.

Hugs!

we have to be honest about what we do and take care to grow the community, dear friend. It is a lot of work for you to go with all the details of each post but you do that and I am glad you are such a good community leader. take care, my friend :)
