That thing about the monitor lasting 12 years, sounds familiar to me, I actually have similar numbers of years in various equipment and appliances at home, I am one of those who like to take care of it and I do not usually change the parts if they are working, so it happens that ok i can have some 20+ year old speakers, 8+ year old monitor and stuff like that :)
