LOH 206 - Me First: Prioritizing Myself

in Ladies of Hive2 months ago (edited)

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗

You can't pour from an empty cup; take care of yourself first.
~ unknown

It's usually easy for us to find ourselves trying to meet the needs of others, mostly if these people are people we love dearly, like our family members or beloved friends.

I have found myself most often than not, putting my family in the front line while forgetting my own needs. This is mostly done unconsciously. The moment I know my family has a need, I just look for ways to help out.

But there's a balance in all of this. I had to make a conscious decision to achieve this. Because I know how much I make every month, I don't just throw money into the air. I have a budget for every month; there are months that my expenses are usually on the high side.

If you are not in my budget for that month, forget about getting money from me. The only thing that would make me make an exception to this is if it's really an emergency.

Same goes with my time. Time is the only thing that ones you lose it; you can't get it back. Gone are the days I was always giving my precious time to people that weren't worth it.

If you must have my time, then it must be worth it, even when I am not doing anything at that time; I would rather use it to rest to rejevunate, watch movies, and spend it with my kids.

I have this mindset that in everything I do, I must come first. Before I take care of anyone, I must take very good care of myself.

So the only way to strike a balance to this is to be selfish and love yourself first and more.

Here's my entry into this week's prompt by @priyanarc

💋Hmm thank God you are able to follow your budget. For me it's kinda impossible cause of our countries recent economy. Whenever I budget for something and go to buy it at the market, the price always seems to increase. It's really frustrating I must say..

My dear, we are all in the same country o, that's why I said my budget are usually high some months because I usually buy thing in bulk.

God will sha see us through in the country

Yes oh my sister. The economy😔
There is God oh oh!

Self love is where love starts.

Taking care of oneself is very important because you can't pour from an empty cup just like the quote in your post. We need to value our precious time and shouldn't be wasted on those who don't value or appreciate us.

👍💯

Great perspective about life and budgeting expenses. I know for many people family comes first but I believe that when I am happy and able to fulfill my needs, I can also take care of others. Sometimes people call me selfish because I give myself priority so much :D...

Thanks for sharing...

You are absolutely right. You come first, what other people think doesn't matter

Absolutely
Thank you for stopping by 🤗

Self care is just as important as helping others. If this is neglected, it could lead to weariness and burn out and the people who needed your help might not be too willing to help you.

Love yourself first ❤️

You're right dear lady, if we do not take care of us first, we could not take care of others them.

Have a great Sunday!
