Personally, I find apology difficult a bit of I wasn't at fault but immediately my temper is down, I do not hesitate to apologize wether I am at fault or not inorder to save my relationship from cracking. One thing I have discovered is that the moment you allow little things to linger, it will keep birthing other tangible things capable of ruining relationships
We shouldn't be pride when it comes to apologizing especially for a relationship we value
