Hello, beautiful people! There has been a lot of excitement everywhere as the year 2023 was coming to an end, right? I don't know about others, but so much happened to me in the past year that I have been kinda just wishing the year would roll away quickly, so that the 'magical' 2024 will quickly appear, lol!
Reviewing the past year and taking stock of the negative experiences I went through made me realise that there were so many things I really didn't pay serious attention to, or rather give the level of attention they truly deserve. One of them is my finances.
This is not an exaggeration
I know that people all over the world are crying out because of inflation and high cost of living, but the situation in my country Nigeria was a lot more like hell! What with the cashless policy imposed upon us by the government in power at that time, the fuel subsidy removal by the new administration that came in, the artificial scarcity of cash and commodities that was caused by the activities of some unscrupulous businessmen who seem to derive pleasure from the plight and suffering of others... It was not a pleasant experience, so no need to relive those.
But I learnt a big lesson!
I didn't have a solid financial plan, and so the whole situation hit me below my belt (figuratively speaking, haha). I let some possible income opportunities slip through my fingers because I felt I was okay, not knowing a storm was brewing... Thank God I eventually pulled through.
What I have decided to do differently:
🟠I have already started creating a plan, and currently working on increasing my income streams.
🟠Certain skills I pushed to the back-burner are being dusted and put to use right now.
🟠I am taking financial budgeting more seriously.
🟠I have decided to create a system to track all my income and expenses, so I can really know my cash flow to avoid unnecessary financial losses.
🟠All in all, I am going to have a better healthy relationship with money tis year
🟠My health will also be given priority in everything.
So far, so good... I will be checking my progress as we go on in the year.
