I have been doing a lot less weight training and more body weight exercises lately. Sort of like grease ro groove training from the Russian trainer Tsatsouline. Instead of working a muscle group to failure, I just do 3 or 4 sets over the whole day and keep it at half of whatever I could to maxium just to keep it easy.
It has helped keep me feeling fresh, and I can focus more on good form and full range of motion.
I still like to go max and harder once a week, but I feel the need to keep everything else easy so I can recover better.
It has seemed to help with my running niggles but am struggling to complete any longer runs or rides. Hopefully, it is just a matter of building distance up again slowly.
