Yesterday I took you all around the farmhouse and showed you the gardening and the farming part. Today I will like to share the livestock area of the farm house. When I visited her livestock area my first feeling was wow, and I felt this place was so much better than the new Zoo I visited in the city some days ago. There was so much of place and natural environment for the birds and the cattle. They could move around freely. The owners are taking really good care of their livestock.
They have variety of birds, goats and cows in their farm house. Everything is home produced food for them.
That's an Imu, this one is very friendly, we could even touch her and play with her. Initially I was scared but after some time it was fun playing with her.
All of them are in playful mood
The best part of managing their livestock is that they are all grass fed. They grow special grass for them to be fed and also buy some dry grass. Everything is very organic here. They do not feed grains to their cattle at all.
All of them have an enclosed area but during the day time they are left open in the farm to move around.
That's an egg incubator machine. The egg is kept in here for 21 days and the chick comes out after 21 days.
It's a rocking place, I totally fell in love with it. The area is very big and I am sure it's a lot of hard work to maintain all of this, but when you see the results all of it is worth the efforts. All their food for the family comes from their farm house, this is the best example of sustainable life. A lot of people here in Oman live this type of life. The advantage here is that they can manage to get big lands here, because it's cheap and the population is less here so it's feasible.
