Gods Unchained - Losing The Meta

It has been an interesting couple of weeks in Gods Unchained. It started off well with a pretty good weekend ranked but then I started to notice my deck losing the meta! My win rates started to fall and I couldn't beat so many opponents.

I have still been playing with my Zoo Light Deck and it has taken a real spanking recently, so needs to adapted to the new meta somehow.

After another 30 or so games more, my win rate has dropped further from 57,6% to less than 50%! It is hard to see this happen to a fun deck that you enjoy to play.

The value of the deck has also dropped by $12 which sort of sucks too!

I did decide to build a new nature deck, but only played it once, so far it has a 53% win rate, I wasn't so happy with it in the end.

Weekend Ranked Update

I had initially an amazing weekend ranking winning 11 of 18 and getting 2 Fate packs and 1 Fate Super pack! But then last weekend crashed badly, not completing the weekend ranking and only bagging 5 wins.

Since my last update, I have now reached level 293(+6) and have 121(+4) shadow cards and 497(+12) meteorite cards. My collection value has increased and is worth 2403 (2322) GODS tokens and less value in fiat of $1113 ($1321) which is the way the markets work right now. It is a shame this game is on crappy IMX/ETH.. when will these game devs learn.

I need to build a new deck and get back into Auric, I have enough ETH and GODS tokens to get what I need, I just need to put it together if I can.

I think you play too many singles in your decks. Generally having most cards in pairs makes the decks more consistent. If you have a look at decks played in Mythic they all have a high number of cards in pairs.

This is especially true for decks that depend on finding specific cards during mulligan, like Food Chain. This is because when you send a card back during mulligan, the game removes its other copy from the pool of cards available to show you next - the logic being if your not interested in card x and you reject it, it doesn't make sense to show you the second copy of card x again during mulligan.

The consequence of this is that with lots of doubles, the pool of individual cards the game is going to show you during mulligan is smaller than if you have all singles. A deck full of singles has 30 different card types; a deck full of pairs has 15 different card types.

If your deck is full of singles and you send 1 card away during mulligan, the game will pick the next card to show you from the

30 different cards in your deck,
minus 3 cards shown to you during mulligan,
minus the card you sent away,

which means there are 26 different cards to chose from.

If your deck is full of pairs and you send 1 card away during mulligan, the game will pick the next card to show you from the

30 different cards in your deck,
minus 3 cards shown to you during mulligan,
minus the card you sent away,
minus its other copy (it could also be in the mulligan list though)

which means there are 25 different cards to chose from. In this case - if you don't have repeated cards in the initial mulligan, every time you send a card away you remove 2 cards from the list of possibilities instead of just 1. This makes it more likely to find the card you are looking for because there are less options to chose from.

That is a very good point, however it did work well for me in the last weeks, but for some reason now I have fallen down and can't win at all. I think it is back to the drawing board and I will try to do as you mention and pick up more pairs to try and get the cards that I want.

I am pretty bad at deck building in Gods, even after 2 years of playing!! 😅

Hello, it's true, a deck with several pairs of cards is much better.
I use 2 "Thaeric Extortionist" and 2 "Protective Benediction"
" in my "Light" deck, those cards are very useful in the first rounds, I hope it improves your deck, good luck.👍👍👍
