This is my post for #freewriters 2552 prompt in the grip of madness hosted by @mariannewest

My husband fished today, he did not find any pompano to catch but he did find the small jacks, they pay the most for the small ones, last week they paid 1.90 a pound for them. He could not get them to bite using a jig so he caught pilchards and they bit them. Pilchards are a small shiny fish.

He had them in both coolers but I do not know how many pounds he has until he gets home from the fish house. He comes home to drop his boat off before taking his fish to the fish house. He came home before I finished writing, he had 76 pounds of small jacks.

I wish I could fish, I love catching jacks but I know how hard even the small one can pull so I know I can not stand the pain it would cause me. I am so jealous of him.

In the meantime today, in the grip of madness I tore one of my compost piles apart. It is the one I am putting invasive plants and weeds in. It has to get hot to kill all of the weed seeds but it has not heated to the temperature that it is supposed to get. With the weeds I have been putting in it, it needs to be heated to 145F. When I tested the temperature it was not much over 110F. The wedelia was even growing new roots. So I took it all out, mixed some of it, and layered it when I put it back. If it does not heat up this time, I will haul it all to the woods.

As I was sitting here cutting up sticks for the compost pile, I remembered a dream I had last night. I dreamt that I had a huge blister on the pointy finger of my left hand. It was a strange dream but luckily it did not come true.

Best of luck with your composting

Thanks, I would love to find a way to compost grass seeds, weed seeds, and invasive plants. Other things I just throw in a pile and forget about. Hot composting is the only way to kill the seeds.

I am sorry you had to give up fishing. I know you loved it very much. I only tried composting once, and it didn't work out, so I gave up.

It is hard to watch him go fishing, I need to have the surgery but every time I think about having 3 bones taken out, I get sick to my stomach.

Composting has always worked for me but I never put bad crap in it. If it doesn't work this time, I will go back to my old way.

I can understand your feelings about now being able to fish. I love to fish ever since I was a child. It calms me looking out over the water. I'm sorry you can't enjoy this. I'm glad though your husband had a good haul.

Hope you can get the invasive weeds under control. Thanks for sharing.

I have been thinking about just taking my boat for a ride on the river, it might make me feel better. Being on the water does have a calming effect on a person.

I have been fishing my own boat for over 30 years, now it sits in the yard and we watch my husband leave. It is hard. Somedays I am like I will get that surgery but most days it makes me sick to think about it.

The weeds, ugh!!!!!!!

I understand.
