This is my post for #freewriters 25333 prompt sympathetic ghost hosted by @mariannewest
Today my sister came by to get me, she showed me a flyer that said they will be giving out food at the old Vero mall from 4 to 6 today. She said she wanted to be there by 3 because there will be long lines. The ad showed fresh produce. We got there at 2:30 and there were 6 cars ahead of us.
Around 3 this big truck shows up and they start unloading it. The truck says Florida's Homegrown Foodbank.
Neither of us could figure out what this guy was doing. He was parked in front of where they were giving the food away, and for an hour, we watched him put palm fronds on top of his little trailer. This is what it looked like when he finished with it. He sat down on his tailgate and did nothing else. All that was in the trailer was a cooler, but he was not giving anything out.
It was finally time for them to start giving out the food, when it came our turn and we pulled up to the food area we found out all they were giving out was water and MRIs. No fresh produce like we thought. My sister buys her water so I gave her what they gave me, I tried to give her the MRIs but she wanted me to take hers, so we ended up keeping the box we were given.
2 of my brother's graves
We took Old Dixie back home and I told my sister that this road always makes me feel like going to the cemetery and she asked if I wanted to go, so we did.
She asked how I could be so strong and turn and walk away, she was crying. I told her that it is not that I am strong, I turn away when I feel the emotions taking hold of me.
I wish a sympathetic ghost could have embraced her and told her they are all ok if there are such things as ghosts, I changed that may the Holy Spirit embrace her and turn her tears of sorrow into tears of joy.
Someone placed a flag on Aunt Mae's grave, it had fallen over, I picked it up and put it over Uncle Richards's grave, he was a Vet and I thought it belonged on his grave.
