One could easily think that I no longer have anything to do with music, that I changed my profession or simply stopped playing the piano. If anyone thinks about it, of course, hahaha. I mean, even I don't remember when I posted my last music-related post in the Q-inspired community; not to mention when was the last time I posted any video of me playing, and I don't suffer from amnesia...
But I haven't stopped playing! Although there have been other things in focus lately, it's been a few interesting events where I performed. Back in July, I had a performance with my son, which caused a chain reaction in which both my son and I separately received invitations for several subsequent performances. I can't complain, work is work, but if you love what you do, then it's also a great pleasure. Private parties, wedding ceremonies, regular gigs at the hotel where the Buddha disappeared again, and collaborations with other musicians and with a choir.
These last days my performance schedule has been pretty tight again (luckily I had a three-day break from school and lessons). On Thursday afternoon I played at a centre for elderly people where I have already played countless times. The same day but later in the evening - a private party at a special place. In a big rustic finca in the middle of nowhere, on one hill. I shouldn't reveal the place and the identity of the owner of this castle-like villa with lands... However, what I can reveal is that it was a casual girlie evening for a few friends who came from abroad for a few days and enjoyed the songs which we had agreed in advance with the owner. The idea was to sing along with my playing and release energy through having fun. In short, these ladies had a great time and definitely an unforgettable evening.
For me, it was also unforgettable as it was so cold in that stone house. ❄️ In one moment, I excused myself and went to my car to put on a spare sweater I had there and my sneakers lol. 😂 Abracadabra and the elegant pianist got a different look, but the ladies didn't mind it. They were standing around this piano, dancing and singing along. That was the only thing that mattered, not the improvised outfit of the pianist.
About the music... there was everything from Frank Sinatra to Elton John, Lady Gaga, Adele, Elvis Presley, Edith Piaf, Coldplay and many more. Coldplay... that was the wish of one of the guests. Luckily, just a day before I learned to play this one:
There are a few other new songs I learned lately for these events. For the wedding ceremony, we (my son and I as we played together on that one) asked the groom and the bride if they had any wishes. And yes, the bride said if it was not a problem she would like to walk toward her future husband with this song.
Oh, that was so nice to learn, I played the accompanying part on the piano (it sounds cool) and my son was Beyonce's voice 😁 - of course, played on the violin.
Today I had a concert with the choir and a soloist. With just two rehearsals (I felt I needed more but that is what we could meet) we performed this beautiful piece by Mozart. Believe me, it is not easy at all to play Mozart's music. It sounds simple but to reach that light and clear appearance you have to polish a lot. In one word - practice a lot. 😂
Tomorrow we have another performance with a similar repertoire, but before it, I have my regular Sunday morning gig, so in the best scenario I will arrive some 15 minutes before the performance with the choir. Fingers crossed there are no traffic jams on the road. 😅
I will try to go easy on me... oh, that is another song I learned recently, just because I wanted it. Go easy on me, by Adele. Love to play it and I see that the people who hear me while playing it also enjoy it. I hope one day 3speak will work again, so maybe (just maybe) I will post it in my humble performance.
P.S. Thinking already some 20 minutes about the title of the post... and I still don't have it 😂
It should be something about music - I guess hahaha
