What do you think these guys do on my couch? Why this gathering now, all of them well dressed, colourful, happy and posing for us?
The answer is quite simple. We can deduce it very easily, looking at the community where I publish this and knowing that it is the first day of the month.... and that normally a new topic comes on these dates for the current month.
So, what do they do?
Yes, they make a collection of themselves and invite us to share our collections of stuffed animals too. They are the protagonist of this initiative for the month of May - soft toy collections!
I can't participate in this initiative after I press the publish button, I mean they are already presented in the first photo... although I am going to say a few words about almost each of them so maybe it counts as my entry for the topic! 😉
But, first of all, I would like to say a thank you to everyone who has shared any of their collections in the past month. We have been able to see two entries to the initiative of bottle caps, so a big thank you goes to @multifacetas and @nanixxx for their contributions. Also, thank you for all the other collections that arrived on the community feed, @avdesing with earrings, @abrunet with Cuban music, Pictures of Spain and Vintage photo cameras. @edje shared with us the peculiar life of his mugs, @mamani brought some drinks for the party... well, just the empty bottles 😁, but we also could see a few collections of drawings by @lismarcarolina2, postal stamps from @jocieprosza, disappearing art in sand from @mdrguez, or a collection of pens coming from the pen of @mairene1.
A lovely pot collection came from @bluemoon, but we also saw classic cars that @palomap3 brought to us, ties from @nbarrios67 and cards! Yes, cards, though different ones. Pokemon cards - by @incublus and pretty faces from a Korean series, which is a treasure that @ruffatotmeee collected. And more music, coming from our little Hive owl, @elbuhito!! 🎶
It was an interesting month, you see the variety of collections! 😃
Hello, May! Hello, Hivers!
The new month is here with this new colourful topic. A very soft one. I should not say soft toys as I was told that Elmo, one of the guys sitting on my couch would be offended by that classification. He is waving now to all of us and to his family from Sesame Street!
But anyway, the topic was on my mind for some time, since I saw a few soft toys in this post. I promised @mamani in my comment on that post that it would be a theme for one of the months. It arrived today :))
Many of my own soft toys are not with me anymore. Just Elmo, and two other stuffed animals. One white seal with her baby and a huge rabbit, Maxi.
This seal mom and her baby were a gift from my aunt who travelled a lot; she brought this little family from Austria.
From the same aunt, I got so many gifts (maracas from Cuba, a wall decoration from Thailand, a large beach scarf from Kenya) and this huge rabbit too. He has a zip on his back, so you can stuff him with things you want - pyjamas, socks or even hide money. 😱 {the latter is just a joke}
The rest of the collection is in the ownership of my son. This cute puppy has been his favourite one since he was a baby. Its name is Maurice (like Maurice Ravel) as I was practising for months one piece by that composer when my son was a baby and this soft toy was already with him, listening to me. That is why we named it Maurice.
He travelled with us to all the places we went.
Maurice is a puppy so he also has a dog family. The grey is his mom and the brown is his dad. The other two are probably his siblings but don't ask why all of them are different. 😂
There is also a collection of Teddy bears. All have similar fur however two of them have T-shirts and one even has a coat with a hood. It is not clear why the others didn't want to dress for this little photo session. Perhaps they are just fine with their natural look.
The next section is dedicated to not-so-usual soft toys (not bears or dogs). Two frogs are sitting in the company of two elephants, but the weird thing is that the frogs are big and the elephants are so small. Maybe they are coming from an upside-down world. 😁
This part of the collection consists of all different species, so we see here a fish, a rabbit with his carrot, a lion, a camel and a... so what is that little guy with the hat? You probably already recognize him from a cartoon, but if not, here comes the answer: he is a platypus!
Ok, no animals here but two aeroplanes, both were bought in flights we did many years ago with the airlines you see in the photo. The purple one (Wizz Air) "talked" when you pressed it, but something went wrong and the plane didn't want to stop talking haha. In the end, we took that piece out. Now it is just a soft toy.
As the last piece in this soft toys collection, I hold the hand of this clown. I kinda want to make peace with him, because as a little girl, I was afraid of clowns. No more fears, no more tears - clowns are also welcome in this collection.
There is one stuffed animal that appears in the group photo, but I don't present it separately. Can you spot which one?
