2 Kings 2:16-18
Are A Half Baked Disciple?
Are you a disciple who does not know the God you are following?
Are you a disciple who does not trust the God you are following?
Are you a disciple who does not believe that God is able to do what He says He can do?
Are you a disciple who does not think God is good enough for us to cast our trust on Him?
Are you a disciple who has a double mind with God (ie you just watch Him to observe if He can be true; relating with Him the same way you relate with men?)
What type of disciple are you?
The action of the sons of the prophet suggest that though they had been with the prophet and learned from him, their minds did not receive in totality his teachings about his God.
They did not trust God too much. I didn't rely on God that much. To them, they just follow the prophet. When the prophet is out of the scene, they forget about all that God mentality. God wasn't reliable to them.
Can we reflect on this personally in our individual life and examine our mind inside out to evaluate your trust in Him. To what extent do you believe and trust this God? How much can you wholly put in His hand not worry about the outcome? How far can you go with Him?
