The Flower Fades.

When I was living in my last rented apartment before I moved to my personal house about two years ago. I had a family that was free with me and we were interacting very well. Both Alhaji and Alhaja were very friendly. One could have peace relating with them.

Just as it is in every community, something brought us together. Alhaji has a feed mill in his compound. He was a man who was given to investing in many areas as much as he had the knowledge about such. He was a senior staff in the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria and was working with the Ilorin International Airport, Kwara State, Nigeria.

Aside from his paid employment, Alhaji invested in many different sectors. He invested more in the agricultural sector. He had farms and grew crops as well. He had a feed mill which produces animal feed.

The industrious lifestyle of Alhaji is worth emulating. I learnt from him that instead of sitting back to complain, we should engage our ideas, our energy; our time wisely to make income that can help to sustain us. Alhaji was a man who spent his time minding his work and building his business and family.

In the community, he was a peacemaker. He always makes for the things that bring peace. He was a quiet and peaceful person. He has never been involved in any conflict in the community. In fact those who had conflict used to call him for settlement. Alhaji is a man we would not want to miss now but he is gone.

I came in contact with the Alhaji family when I went to their feed mill to formulate feed for my rabbits. Ever since then, our relationship grew from strength to strength. Alhaji and Alhaja (the wife) were very friendly and caring to my family. But the sad event has changed our course. Alhaji is dead.

Today is the eighth day since my wife returned the unpleasant news of Alhaji’s demise. Alhaji is gone. A man I respected and cherished is no more. The flower has faded. What can we say other than to say that God receives thanks for the time He gave us Alhaji.

Life on earth is nothing except we life it to please God and serve humanity. We all came into this world at one point or the other and one day each one of us will go. It is Alhaji’s time to go. May his soul find peace.
