From my experience seeing lots of robot or AI Korean series, I must say I enjoy series with such focus. Maybe it's because the world is gradually going to where AI does so much than it had ever done and we don't know much limits to it yet. Series like "I Am Not A Robot", "Are You Human?", "My Absolute Boyfriend" and now, this one I saw recently, they are all focused on the power of robots.
Even though some were lacking, it was so much fun and worth seeing, the whole AI or robot idea was made so fascinating that it kept viewers wanting more.
I got the recommendation to see "My Holo Love" and I didn't think twice before I had it downloaded as I had just finished seeing "My Absolute Boyfriend" and wasn't so satisfied with the end so you could say I expected more deciding to see this one.
My Holo Love is a 2020 Korean series with just 12 episodes with really unique storyline and interesting scene. The main genre of the series from my perspective are romance, comedy and tech. I had never thought I'm a lover of tech as much as this series made me realise I do. The characters in this series seem very new to me or maybe I'm yet to see their other works but I have positive comments on them even as it's my first time.
I say the storyline is very unique and I bet you'd agree with me after I share my own version of the storyline...
It is about a lonely working lady who has face blindness and finds it hard to interact with her work mates since she can't recognize them once they change their wears. This lady got randomly and unexpectedly selected to test run a human-like hologram. From being terrified to accepting the perfect Hologram, she begins to pursue goals and do better with living among people as she could recognize them with the help of the Hologram.
It turns out the Hologram was being modelled by his own creator, a genius hacker who is hiding from the public. He falls in love with his tester, the lady with face blindness. How to come out to say the truth about him being behind the Hologram, getting investors for his work and the first tester (the lady) falling in love with a Hologram... The storyline goes on and on to an interesting end.
Who wouldn't love a series with such a storyline? Maybe it's just me but I'm recommending it to anyone who is in love with tech, this would boost it for you even more.
The main characters played their role really well especially the male lead who had to act as a Hologram and also a human in love with one lady. I don't know the workload in switching roles from time to time but this series made it look easy, how he changes expression as the Hologram is made to be more friendly than his model, the creator.
The female lead role can not be overlooked, falling in love with a human thinking she's in love with a Hologram made the series very refreshing and it gave an unexpected end. The supporting characters weren't so agile as I've seen in many series but the storyline wouldn't be complete without them so I'll give them that.
The comedy in the series isn't so much but I love the small laughs I had in scenes like where the girl first met the Hologram and from the episodes when the creator of the Hologram kept denying his true feelings and hiding away from love too. There are a lot of interesting scenes for a 12 episode series, you'll enjoy your time on it.
Do check out the series and thank me later, you can binge watch it in one day like I did but anyway you can, you'll love the scenes displayed in it. I'll rate the series 8/10, let me know what you think about it.
