I had to hold myself back from reviewing this series the day I concluded the last episode for one reason... I would hype it way too much and I don't think it will be healthy for a series I find to be one of a kind and would love to have more people see it.
It's actually sad that this series didn't get as much hype that it deserve, I just came across it as one of the kdramas on the "The girl fell first then the guy fell harder" list and I decided to see it. It wasn't hyped like "King The Land or Queen of Tears" was hyped and I'm failing to see a reason for that.
Talk about a series where they keep you in suspense, make you laugh and cry, bless your heart with a perfect ending... This series has all of that and more and I can't seem to get over a lot of what I saw in it. It's been more than a week since I finished the last episode but guess what! I keep going back to rewatch the perfect ending scene π
First off, I wish they had given the series another title as I feel the title is what is driving viewers away from seeing it but on the other hand, it is the perfect title when you decide to see the series. At first, I giggled to the title thinking this could be another waste of time but I gave it the benefit of doubt and I got hooked till the end.
Twinkling Watermelon is a 2023 Korean series with the genres "Fantasy, comedy, drama", a perfect blend for family view and it has got a whole lot to teach it's viewers, I won't even start pointing so much from there. You just need to see the series to confirm that for yourself. My most favourite part of this series that isn't a new thing in kdrama series history but still exciting as always is the, Time Traveling.
This guy you see up there? I didn't first see him star in this series but this is the best series I've seen of him and I love how refreshingly lively he is in this series compared to the last one I saw him in, "Secret Romantic Guesthouse". In this series, he played the role of a son as the main lead and travels back in time.
He is a brilliant kid who lives with his deaf and dumb father, mother and elder brother but he could hear and talk very well. Because of the responsibility to be his family mouthpiece, he is forced to pursue a career but is more interested in music after an encounter with an old man. He gets into a fight with his father in 2023, run away from home but something happens and he finds himself in front of his father who is same age as him in 1995.
This series introduces me to these two new characters and made me fall in love with them. They are the parents to the male lead but younger and starred more in the time travel year (1995). Their love storyline is one of the most beautiful I've seen in all the kdrama series I've seen. I like how slowly and exciting the writer made it for viewers but I must say the characters are to thank for bringing out the feeling of the writer that much.
The two will go from the girl loving the guy so much to the guy loving her even more after he realizes he is no longer in love with his first love, another time travel character in the series. I didn't show her picture on this post but she's an amazing character wherever and in whatever role.
I got to learn about the word "CODA" and a few things about sign language. It's even more fascinating that the characters had to learn sign language just to give us a perfect view and I appreciate it a lot. There is also the character that learned the Cello, really cool side of the series.
There's more to what you've read here about the series and it's very much highly recommended for any to go check it out. It's a 10/10 for me, can't hold back from giving a perfect rating for such a perfect ending.
Have you seen the series? Will you see it? Let me know in the comment section.
