La versione in italiano è subito dopo la versione in inglese - The Italian version is immediately after the English version Spending my time with the people I love is the best way to spend my time but unfortunately it is not always possible to do so because work commitments take up most of my time. Sunday is my favorite day of the week because it is the day I spend the most time with my family and especially with my daughter Chiara who is 11 years old. Parenting is not easy but being a father is the best gift I have received in my life. I am a person who always tries to see the positive, I like to see the glass half full instead of seeing the glass half empty, and I like to motivate, incentivize and support my daughter's passions. I always try to give advice to my daughter and my four most recurring pieces of advice are: My daughter is quite timid and has a passion: swimming. Today I was especially happy to see that some of the advice I give my daughter has been taken up and put into practice by her. Three days ago my daughter, after a training session, had pain in a calf and was very worried because she did not want to skip Sunday's race, a regional swimming competition. As always, I told her: “Why are you wasting time despairing?” The coach advised her to use a bag filled with hot water and place it on her calf. The hot water treatments were helpful but today Chiara still had some pain in her calf but decided to participate in the swim anyway. In my region there are much faster swimmers than my daughter but Chiara likes to participate in swimming competitions even though she very rarely finishes on the podium and today she participated in a regional competition. Chiara participated in three competitions with different styles: In the next picture you can see my daughter swimming in lane 2 during the 100-meter freestyle competition. After the first 25 meters she was fourth out of six. Still fourth just before the 75 meters. She finished fourth in her swimming battery but 25th overall in her age group out of 35 swimmers. She did much better in the 50-meter breaststroke style competition in which Chiara finished fifth overall. Today Chiara worsened all her times in the three races she participated in but for me she won because she learned to face difficulties without giving up at the start. I love that my daughter plays sports because playing sports is challenging yourself continuously trying to improve. Some people experience sports focusing on results while I don't and I hope my daughter understands that results can be important but what matters much more is the commitment and determination to do something we are passionate about. If there is effort and passion even a last place in a swimming competition is for me a first place in the race with oneself. Thank you for taking the time to read this post :) Spendere il mio tempo con le persone che amo è il miglior modo di impiegare il mio tempo ma purtroppo non è sempre possibile farlo perchè gli impegni lavorativi occupano la maggior parte del mio tempo. La domenica è il giorno della settimana che preferisco perchè è il giorno in cui trascorro più tempo con la mia famiglia e in particolare con mia figlia Chiara che ha 11 anni. Fare il genitore non è facile ma essere padre è il dono più bello che ho ricevuto nella mia vita. Sono una persona che cerca sempre di vedere il bicchiere mezzo pieno invece di vedere il bicchiere mezzo vuoto e mi piace motivare, incentivare e supportare le passioni di mia figlia. Cerco sempre di dare dei consigli a mia figlia e i miei quattro consigli più ricorrenti sono: Mia figlia è abbastanza timida e ha una passione: il nuoto. Oggi sono stato particolarmente felice di vedere che una parte dei consigli che dò a mia figlia sono stati recepiti e messi in pratica da mia figlia. Tre giorni fa mia figlia, dopo un allenamento, ha avuto dolori ad un polpaccio ed era molto preoccupata perchè non voleva saltare la gara della domenica, una competizione di nuoto regionale. Come sempre le ho detto: "Perchè perdi tempo a disperarti?" L'allenatore le ha consigliato di usare una borsa riempita con acqua calda e posizionarla sul polpaccio. I trattamenti con l'acqua calda sono stati utili ma oggi Chiara aveva ancora un pò di dolore al polpaccio ma ha deciso di partecipare comunque alla gara. Nella mia regione ci sono nuotatrici molto più veloci di mia figlia ma Chiara ama partecipare alle gare anche se molto raramente arriva sul podio e oggi ha partecipato ad una competizione regionale. Chiara ha partecipato a tre gare con stili diversi: Nella prossima foto puoi vedere mia figlia che nuota nella corsia 2 durante la gara di 100 metri stile libero. Dopo i primi 25 metri era quarta su sei. Sempre quarta poco prima dei 75 metri. Termina quarta nella sua batteria ma al 25° posto nella classifica generale della sua fascia di età su 35 nuotatrici. E' andata molto meglio nella gara 50 metri stile rana in cui Chiara è arrivata al quinto posto nella classifica generale. Oggi Chiara ha peggiorato tutti i suoi tempi nelle tre gare in cui ha partecipato ma per me ha vinto perchè ha imparato ad affrontare le difficoltà senza rinunciare in partenza. Amo che mia figlia faccia sport perchè fare sport è sfidare se stessi continuamente cercando di migliorarsi. C'è chi vive lo sport focalizzandosi sui risultati mentre io no e spero che mia figlia capisca che i risultati possono essere importanti ma quello che conta molto di più è l'impegno e la determinazione nel fare qualcosa che ci appassiona. Se c'è l'impegno e la passione anche un ultimo posto in una gara di nuoto è per me un primo posto nella gara con se stessi. Posted Using INLEO
