Greetings everyone!
In my upbringing, a cherished tradition that brought immense joy was the ritual of setting off fireworks during the Christmas season. This vibrant practice was not just a spectacle; it was the heartbeat of our festive celebrations. As a child, the mere thought of Christmas without the dazzling display of colorful explosions in the night sky was inconceivable. The enchanting allure of fireworks was woven into the fabric of our holiday traditions, transforming ordinary moments into magical memories.
By fireworks, I don't mean the mere display of sparklings in the air, no. I mean, the loud shoot of explosive and that's what we commonly refer to as knockout or banger here.
Although the culture is diminishing, or let me say, has diminished already, but a season like this can't go without being disturbed by fireworks. Over here in my country, the noise may not be much on Christmas days, but on that particular crossover night to the new year, the shooting of knockouts is completely uncontrollable. No matter how the government or anybody tries to shun it, it will still have its way.
"...and there shall be no shooting of explosives within the Church premises. Anyone found must be fully punished." This is the favorite line of warning from my Church to her members whenever it's approaching the crossover night. The announcement would be made countless times with an emphasis on dealing with the defaulters, but at the end of the day, nothing happens. In fact, the church becomes the craziest ground to display fireworks because that's where almost everyone assembles at that particular moment.
I remember a particular time at home church when our pastor assigned us (some of the youth) to position and arrest anyone shooting knockouts. I questioned and told him it's unnecessary because at that particular time, with everyone shouting "HAPPY NEW YEAR," almost everyone will lose their manners and will go on shooting fireworks. But he said we should go on with his instructions. Very funny, when the time came, we even joined the masses in shooting bangers, forgetting we were assigned to arrest defaulters. LOL😂
On the just-passed Christmas day, one of my neighbors was chased out of his room out of being scared of loud bangers that were sounding and hitting directly on his door. He rushed to me and was complaining about how people in the lounge close to our house were shooting the bangers directly at his door.
"So you're going to beat them? Go and join them in the fun hahahah," I mocked him so loudly after he dropped his complaints
"Guy, this particular one they're shooting at my door is more than a mere banger; this is nothing but a bomb, exactly the type we see in movies," he added as he jumped on my bed.
Although it's disturbing to him and made him uncomfortable even in his house but there's nothing he could do because we are in the season of such happenings.
I don't know if it happens like that in your country
