Everybody loves Christmas 🎄🎁

Greetings!

The season where there's joy in the air simply by seeing the environment or breathing it in is here. This season, even when someone is hungry, they will still find reasons to be happy. It's just how the season is designed....Christmas season🌲

That aside, I have listened to and watched many Christmas songs that I love so much, especially because most of them feel like traditional songs. These songs go into hiding after the season and reappear when the season is around—very ancient melodies. However, among all this, I believe I have found the best Nigerian Christmas song ever. Yes, I mean the best Nigerian Christmas song in existence. I know there are many Christmas songs by Nigerian artists, including those they sampled from globally famous Christmas songs, but this one I’m referring to stands out for several reasons.

It might seem like I’m exaggerating too much or perhaps rating it based on my personal bias, but hold on. The song I’m referring to is "Everybody Loves Christmas," and it was performed by many artists—up to 20 people—including movie actors and musicians. You've seen something like that before??

To be sincere, the song is not as easily singable as the ancient Christmas classics. However, the big flex here—the element that actually makes it unique—is the sheer number of people involved in it and the bond they shared whie creating it, especially in the video.

The song originated from a newly released movie (at the time of writing this), titled "Everybody Loves Jenifa," which features many well-known, veteran, and famous artists. The movie's creator, Funke Akindele, has a special squad from her popular comic TV show Jenifa’s Diary, which I love so much. She took this squad, involved other prominent artists, produced a movie, and then came up with this song—which is, undoubtedly, a banger.

As I mentioned earlier, some people might argue that the song isn’t particularly special in terms of lyrics and other elements. But, hey, bringing together a group of more than 20 people to create a song and a video is no small feat!

I’m especially fascinated by the video of the song, which portrays the peak of love. The way they were dancing, laughing, and eating in Christmas costumes and a beautifully designed Christmas-themed environment (walls, rooftops, and more) captured the spirit of the season perfectly.

Among the performers, only two major musicians were involved: D’banj and Falz. These two brought their A-game, and their presence made a magical difference in their parts. While it’s not solely about their lyrics, their contributions stood out. By the way, Falz did more with his lyrics, in my opinion.

The song, as the title suggests, demonstrates how Christmas comes with an abundance of love and love-sharing. It’s a season that touches people of all religions, even though it’s primarily a Christian celebration. All religions touched? Yes, although not all religious groups actively engage in it, the essence of the season is felt by everyone worldwide. Come on, you can’t watch TV now without feeling the Christmas vibe—when even the football world revolves around the season. Indeed, everyone loves Christmas.

Thanks for reading.

Wishing you a merry Christmas 🎁
