Building The Spirit Dropship

in Toys on Hive4 months ago

This is probably the largest set I have in the collection, and this one was only identified after I finished organising the loose lego, into seperate colour co-ordinated bags.

I noticed a bunch of pieces which were unusual, while watching some set reviews on YouTube, and with that, I got started on the build.

Although, I did build the stand already, because it was a lot smaller than the actually ship. In total, the set is something like 3,000 pieces.

Starting with the base of one of the wings, it was fairly handy, and because I stacked a bunch of pieces it flew by.

The end piece was also really easy, and once it was assembled, it attached to the other end with ease.

I was happy to see it come together, but the instructions suggested building it face down, which kind of made it a bit difficult to get a good idea of the ship.

Then I assembled a third piece, which was also fairly handy to do.

All three pieces slotted together, and formed this. It is to be a cargo bay, but there was so much more to go.

Building the walls was a cool experience, and it really started to take shape.

After so many pieces, I knew I had so far to go, but I was happy to see a bunch of the stockpile of purple, silver and grey pieces joining to make something cool.

I reached the end, by including the gun racks, and then the instructions had me assemble an entirely new section.

This just didn't stop coming, at first there was just a few plates, attached by other plates.

Within a few hours, this chaotic mass of plates is what I was left with.

I was so focused on what I was doing, while also looking at the clock, that I forgot to take photos of the in between sections.

For you, it's a flash, but for me, this was a grueling process that almost killed me.

After I was finished with this section, I attached it to one of the cargo bays, and it started to really take shape.

It's hard to imagine, but this is going to be huge. There will be another cargo bay, mirrored on the other side, and it's obviously going to be taller than this too.

Wish me luck.

I can only dedicate about 2 evenings a week to this build, so I think I'm going to be a while, but the end result will be so worth it.

I'm not worried, if I'm missing pieces, because this set can have pieces order from Mattel if needed, but it'll be a process to write out each code for any pieces which may be missing.

Wow brother building something this cool and big must be so rewarding. The attention to detail is pretty impressive. Very nice work man

I look forward to seeing how cool this looks once it is completed
