One coin show participant said, "Retirement, this is my retirement." he spread out his arms to his coins spread over three tables at the collectables show. I knew the public Canada Pension paid a max of $750CAD/month with OAS supplement not adequate.
My Local Coin store owner says a lot of people are selling their jewelry, coin collections and silverware to make ends meet, I felt sad for a woman who had to sell her personal jewelry piece by piece, she had been regularly dropping in. Those that were buying were well dressed seem well off for now.
I'm seeing gold premiums drop a bit. Likely tough to sell since most people cannot afford the price for ONE troy oz.
I've built up a sizeable Emergency fund, but earning 2.75% in a GIC sucks, and half that interest income is taxable, so I'm thinking off putting half of it into gold bullion and hoping it will be sufficient cash without having to sell the gold.
