In our lives, I believe that we have all been through some scary situation, some “crazy” thing that made us scared, I think that especially when we are teenagers we end up overstepping our limits and doing some things that today we judge as something “idiotic”, But these are phases of life because in the past I didn't think so much about risks.

Writing this text I remember a few days ago I was talking to a friend of mine who participates in our cycling group, in a competition she, unfortunately, ended up falling, but luckily she wasn't hurt, she just had a few scratches, but I remember her telling me: “we At our age we have to be careful not to break any bones, otherwise recovery is very difficult and time-consuming.”

Well, here's the story, when I was around 14 to 15 years old, there was a phase where riding a bike was something incredible and we were happy but always riding close to home or going to some field where people made ramps to jump on. with the bicycle (at the time no one had a big bicycle, we had small ones, but one day two other friends and I decided to “invent” going to a colony close to where we lived, the colony is about 25km away and we barely cycled 2km in a row, we didn't have tyre repairs, nor maintenance tools, at that time, about 17 years ago, safety equipment was a legend, we didn't have helmets, gloves, glasses, because at the time no one in the neighbourhood wore them, without telling me that everything was very expensive at the time.

There we went to start the route that stops along a highway, firstly the danger of the path because as it is a region with a lot of agricultural activity, several trucks passed along the route, we probably cycled for about 10 km, the place has several steep descents which gives a lot of speed, there is a specific descent that people call the “padlock” descent, to this day I don’t know the exact story of why it is called that, but in the end it was the biggest stupid thing we did in our lives, two loaded trailers were coming and the We had to go to the side of the track, think about the “vacuum” that the trucks created when they passed by us, they almost knocked us over, the bikes started to shake with such force and speed, it gave a feeling of fear and risk to our lives , because if we fell we would definitely get hurt a lot, it was a moment that literally felt like our entire lives flashed before our eyes in slow motion, thank God we didn't get hurt and even "bad luck" after that stretch it ended The chain of one of the bicycles fell, after a while we managed to fix it, but we decided to return to the house, because after the scare, it was better not to risk it again.

Nowadays, in October I started cycling again (29-inch bicycle), always with a helmet, and tools for quick repairs, but I don't risk riding near highways, the risk of accidents is very high and our lives are invaluable.

And for you, which sport has already scared you and made you review your concepts?

Riding bicycle on the highway is very dangerous and I don't support it at all. It was a huge risk you took and I happy you guys didn't hurt yourself back then because no one can tell what the outcome would have been.

Yes, nowadays I started cycling again, but I prefer cycling on dirt roads in the interior, where there is less vehicle movement. thank you for the comment my friend
