This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

We decided on Sunday afternoon to visit our oldest daughter in Durban (East coast of South Africa).
She lives on the third floor of an apartment building. During the afternoon, I went outside and, with a view over the harbor, I noticed something that looked like a passenger ship in the harbor. The white that you can see right in the center of my first photo (in the gap between the trees), is the part of the ship that was visible to me. This was at about 4 pm.
I mentioned it to my daughter and she confirmed that there was a passenger ship in the harbor indeed. She went down to the beach earlier in the morning to go for a walk, and it was close to the entrance of the harbor while she was there.
At about 5pm, we decided to go down to the harbor area and see if I can get some photos of the ship.
We went down to the Durban Point area, where the entrance to harbor is, but the ship wasn't where my daughter saw earlier in the morning.
I got a glimpse of the ship on our way to the harbor though and I got the impression that it was deeper into the harbor.
We decided to go for a walk in the area of the Point Beach.
I found parking closer to the northern end of Point Beach, close to Ku D' Ta Pier, at uShaka Marine World.
It was late afternoon, going for about 6pm, and it was cloudy. I love getting sunrise photos over the ocean, but being on the east coast, sunset photos over the ocean is out of the question. I did hope to get the atmosphere of the sunset and try to capture it in some photos.
Walking out onto the pier, this was one of my first views, looking up to north.
Looking back toward the city, with a little sunlight barely finding its way through the clouds and onto the water below me...
Then, the late afternoon sun broke through for a minute or two, and the white of the surf below me was beautiful.
I walked past the restaurant at the end of the pier, trying to get cover from the direct sunlight behind the restaurant when looking back at the sunset, yet get the feeling of the sunset with some reflections.
In the next photo, I was looking down south, over Point Beach. From here, you can see the shadow of the restaurant on the water below me, with some nice sunshine out over Point Beach.

A few minutes earlier I was standing at the end of this pier all by myself, capturing the reflections of the lowering sun. Now there was a lot of activity with quite a few people enjoying the view from there. The sun was now disappearing behind the clouds altogether.
Behind me was (I assume) a father and son team, busy packing up after a day of fishing.
We spent more time in this area and I got quite a few photos which I will share in upcoming posts.
For my last photo in this post though, I would like to take you back to the beginning of this post...the passenger ship.
So...we will fast forward to just after 7pm. It was getting dark fast. But I was still thinking about getting a nice shot of that ship I saw.
I had an idea that I might be able to get view of the ship from Wilson's Wharf. So we drove up to Wilson's Wharf, and yes...there it was!
It was still far away though. I had quite a bit of distance between me and the ship, and it was almost dark by now. But I took a couple of shots to see what I could come up with...
It's not exactly what I had in mind, but I'll share this photo to end this post with. I checked schedules on the internet, and this ship seems to be the MSC SPLENDIDA.
I'll keep an eye on the schedules for these ships. I would like to see if I can get some nice close-ups of this ship either leaving or entering the harbor.
