My different vision of the Necropolis (II) [eng/esp]

And the big day has arrived! I have been waiting for it since last week, when I visited the Necropolis of Colon for the first time and I could only admire a small area of this cemetery. I had told you in my last post for this fascinating community that loves architecture and design, that I had previously bought an excursion to visit this site with a tour guide. In this opportunity I was able to learn about the history of many of the pantheons, but I focused my gaze on the variety of designs and shapes, and today I share other architectural wonders that caught my attention of that place.
I guess I could not hide my excitement when I entered again, now accompanied by my traveling colleagues. The first thing I show you is one of the first pantheons I saw when entering through the iconic main door. This one looks like something out of a medieval European gothic style city. Its walls are off-white and full of moldings. The windows end in a pointed shape and are covered by a black trellis. The strut is high and the building ends in a dome adorned by blue tiles that have a square shape.

Y llegó el gran día!!! Lo estuve esperando desde la última semana, cuando visité por primera vez la Necrópolis de Colón y solo pude admirar una pequeña área de este camposanto. Les había contado en mi último post para esta fascinante comunidad que ama la arquitectura y el diseño, que con anterioridad había comprado una excursión para recorrer este sitio de la mano de un guía de turismo. En esta oportunidad pude conocer la historia que guardan muchos de los panteones, pero yo centré mi mirada en la variedad de diseños y formas, y hoy comparto otras de las maravillas arquitectónicas que llamaron mi atención de ese lugar.
Creo que no pude ocultar mi emoción cuando entré nuevamente, ahora acompañada de mis colegas de viaje. Lo primero que les muestro es uno de los primeros panteones que vi cuando se accede por la icónica puerta principal. Este parece sacado de una ciudad medieval europea de estilo gótico. Sus paredes son de color blanco hueso y están llenas de molduras. Las ventanas terminan en forma puntiaguda y están cubiertas por un enrejado negro. El puntal es alto y la edificación concluye en una cúpula adornada por unas lozas azules que tienen forma cuadrada.

Close to this one is another great pantheon of cream-colored walls and great round columns that support the access to the same one. The door is shaped like a pointed arch and also closes its design with a large dome.
It is surrounded by others that may seem simpler but in its design it is distinguished by structures similar to tiles.

Cercano a este se encuentra otro gran panteón de paredes color crema y grandes columnas redondas que soportan el acceso al mismo. La puerta tiene forma de arco de punto y también cierra su diseño con una gran cúpula.
Está rodeado por otros que pudieran parecer más sencillos pero en su diseño lo distinguen estructuras semejantes a tarjas.

Another of the cemeteries that I found very peculiar is one dedicated to the Núñez Gálvez family. It has a pyramidal shape at the front and a cross at the top. I did not see another one with a similar design: its back shows that it has an irregular structure. Even the vegetation that surrounds it is very beautiful and has an intense greenness. In front of it there is a large esplanade and it has another pantheon that has engraved that it belonged to the Widow Guarruchaga.

Otro de los panteones que me pareció muy peculiar es uno dedicado a la familia Núñez Gálvez. En la parte delantera tiene forma piramidal y posee una cruz en su punto superior. No vi otro con un diseño similar: su parte trasera muestra que tiene una estructura irregular. Incluso la vegetación que lo rodea es muy bonita y tiene un verdor intenso. Delante lo antecede un gran explanada y tiene otro panteón que tiene grabado que perteneció a la Viuda Guarruchaga.

The Franchi-Alfaro family pantheon was one of my favorites, although when I peeked through its grille I noticed that it is a little deteriorated inside due to the passage of time, the majesty of its facade is undeniable. To me it seemed a great stone monument, which is located at a height above the street of the cemetery. To access it you have to climb a few steps, and find several decorative elements on the way.

El panteón de la familia Franchi-Alfaro fue uno de mis preferidos, aunque al asomarme por su reja noté que está un poco deteriorado en su interior por el paso del tiempo, es innegable la majestuosidad de su fachada. A mí me pareció un gran monumento de piedra, que se encuentra ubicado a una altura superior de la calle del cementerio. Para acceder a él hay que subir unos pocos escalones, y encontrar al paso varios elementos decorativos.

Among the pantheons to which I gave the category of "totally different" is the one dedicated to the Union of Salesmen and Auxiliary Workers of Havana Province, which looks like a huge box protected by a gray marble ribbon marbled with white paint. In a second place, the one that honors the victims of the Orfila massacre, which has the shape of a big giant rock. Although it is not exactly a pantheon, the third place deserves the figure in the form of a harp that was dedicated, in the last century, to the singer of Terriña.

Entre los panteones a los que otorgué la categoría de "totalmente diferentes" está el dedicado al Sindicato unión de vendedores y auxiliares de la provincia de La Habana, el cual parece una enorme caja resguardada por una cinta de mármol gris jaspeado de pintas blancas. En un segundo lugar, el que rinde honor a las víctimas de la masacre de Orfila, que tiene la forma de una gran roca gigante. Aunque no es precisamente un panteón, el tercer lugar lo merece la figura en forma de arpa que se dedicó, en el pasado siglo, al cantor de Terriña.
