Hi community!
The Blaugrana knock down the wall of Atlético de Madrid and will defend the title of 'super champion'.
Barcelona qualified for the Spanish Super Cup final after beating Atlético de Madrid (3-0) in the first semi-final played in Butarque. Two goals from Claudia Pina and a goal from Caroline Graham put the finishing touches to a victory of their own.
The strength of the rival, added to Lola's injury, made Víctor Martín opt for a 1-5-3-2 with a clear defensive tone from the start in order to keep as close an eye as possible on a totally uncontrollable Barcelona. The blaugranas had the first great chance in the boots of Pajor, who took advantage of a filtered pass from Guijarro to face Larqué alone, but the goalkeeper from Zaragoza made a great save with her foot down.
Atlético found a game-breaker in the figure of Ajibade. After two forays to the byline that came to nothing, the Nigerian took advantage of a filtered pass from Moraza to stand in the area in a two-on-two -with Gio waiting for the assist at the penalty spot-, but chose the worst option, she filled herself with the ball and sent it sky high.
The red and white defensive exercise was effective for 45 minutes. Until Pina appeared, who escaped Gio's defensive help at the edge of the box and scored into the top corner with a trademark curling right-footed shot. A cold shower for Atlético just before the break and a cheer for a Barcelona that was having a hard time breaking down the wall.
The second half started without a change of players and with a goal from Ajibade ruled out for offside. The VAR did not intervene on its own initiative, as it did not in the first half when two possible penalties were awarded to Alexia and Brugts, and the spectacle continued. Barcelona made changes to the bench when they saw how the game seemed to be getting muddy - the rain helped, which had its share of prominence - and once again Pina appeared to take charge. The Barça '9' took a free kick against the wall, put the ball in the heart of the area and hunted down the rebound from the defence to surprise Larqué from below.
Atlético tried to react immediately and Gio hit the crossbar with a shot that would have put her team back in the game. In the end, the key to football is accuracy. With the red-and-whites looking for a miracle, the blaugranas sealed the victory in added time after Graham took advantage of an assist from Kika to score with a cross shot.
