December 1st was the last Hive Power Up Day edition of the year. You might as well call a spade a spade: it was not one of the best PUD.
The lowest number of participants and amount of HIVE powered up of the year. This was to be expected with the recent HIVE price pump. We saw a couple of PUD posts that mentioned they almost didn't because of it.
Regardless, that hasn't stopped a decent number of users from indulging in their favorite start-of-the-month activity. This shows how much participation in this challenge has now become part of our community's habits.
It must be said that this edition was quite special with @victoriabsb's brilliant idea of allowing two participants to become Orca for a month thanks to the 50k HP delegation offered by @blocktrades and @theycallmedan. Best way to end the year on a high note!
A few words from the PUD organizers
Happy last month of 2021, everyone! And what a way to finish out the year - not only is Hive at an all time high, but we also have the special Orca Month prize (thanks to an awesome idea by @victoriabsb) to celebrate everyone spending the year growing their accounts. And another awesome Power Up Month is done and dusted - thanks again for the shiny new badge, @hivebuzz!
Though with all the excitement about our ATH, it seems like fewer people powered up, and some of those that did (from what I gleaned in some of the posts I saw in my feed) might not have staked as much. Not at all surprising, and I have to say that I'm wicked thrilled and proud of the community for powering any up at all!
So (and as I say every month, but I extra mean it now), a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this Power Up Day by powering up, posting, and/or shouting out on all traditional web 2.0 social media. All of those things help shine a light on our blockchain home, which in turn helps to grow our community. Special thanks to @hivebuzz for always BEEing such an incredible buzz-maker for Hive Power Up Day. And here's to all the happy Hiveans who are increasing their voting power and influence on the blockchain! See you all next year for the first Power Up Day of 2022!
Even though the HIVE price is higher than previous months, community members still try their best to show up and participate in today's PUD, not only for the prizes but because they have now made it a tradition to do so, and with the Orca Month prize we will be able to reward 2 lucky of those participants with well-deserved delegations
What are the PUD stats of this month?
As usual, let's start first with those who choose to help others grow, the Power Up Helpers, as those are the ones who deserve the most attention.
We have 12 users who have made a power-up to another account and have thus allowed 12 people to get their PUD badge. Together, the helpers gifted 2734.234 HIVE!
Here is the complete list of helpers and their donation:
@fulltimegeek (2504), @blocktrades (114.13), @v4vapp.tre (20), @litrbooh (15), @traciyork (11.11), @coccodema (10), @egistar (10), @fermionico (10), @hiveupme (10), @melinda010100 (10), @pogier (10) and @samsmith1971 (10).
A huge thank you to them all for their generosity! Show them some love by upvoting one of their recent posts.
We now have 166 users who helped at least one less powerful user who never got any power-up from anyone. These benefactors got the so coveted Power Up Helper badge:

(List by number of helpees)
Remember that the number of people you are helping will significantly influence the delegation we will do to you.
Let's now take a look at how you did against the previous editions:
As mentioned at the beginning of this post, we have a shy number of 314 participants. It's not the best, but not the worst either.
Regarding the volume of HIVE that have been powered-up, it is inversely proportional to the ATH price we had: 39264 HIVE powered-up. We now have our own ATL and things can only get better from then on.
Let's now look at what happened with the distribution of power-ups:
Congrats to @synrg (10037,313), @namelessnameless (3618,936), @shauner (2000), @carrinm (1500), @ace108 (1008), @achim03 (1000,45), @tattoodjay (1000) and @ph1102 (1000).
They powered up at least 1000 HIVE and got the Jumbo-Bee badge.
Hive Power delegations
Since the beginning of this year, we are rewarding regular participants and those who have also been generous in helping others by offering a 3 weeks Hive Power delegation.
To be eligible for a delegation:
- you must have participated in this Power Up Day.
- You must have performed at least 5 power-ups on Power Up Day. Power-up received from another user is not taken into account.
- 4 of these 5 power-ups must have been done on the last 5 Power Up Days (including this one).
To compute the amount of HP delegated to each user, we use the following criteria:
- The number of power-ups performed.
- The number and levels of power-ups you have performed (ex: you made two "level 3" and three "level 5" power-ups).
- The number of people you helped to power up and the amount involved.
This month we will delegate 5066 HP to 107 users
Congratulations to all of you and enjoy our delegation!
