Hello, again! Assalamu Alaikum. How are you? I hope that you are fine. Welcome to the Alive & Thriving report on Tuesday, 11th of July, 2023. It is also the actifit report number 957!
Bizarre history of a patient
Today morning one Bangladeshi patient was brought to me by his sponsor. The patient had body pain, low back pain, limb cramps, headache, weakness etc. This means he had all the features related to work-related and heat-related illnesses. I found all the vitals within the standard limit except for a low heart rate, ranging from 45 to 55 beats per min (the normal limit is 60-100 beats per min). I advised him one intravenous fluid with a painkiller injection in it. Then the sponsor sent him out of my chamber and told me that the patient was a chain smoker and probable drinker. He asked me to tell the patients to stop those bad habits.
When the fluid was finished, I asked the patient about that two habits. He denied having the habit of drinking. However, regarding smoking, he told something bizarre. According to him, when his age was one year and a half, his parents put him into active smoking! Why? He used to have a frequent tummy upset with distension at that age. A doctor (!) advised his parents to habituate him (the kid) to smoke. According to the patient, following smoking management (!), his tummy problems were solved back then!!
It was a new kind of history for me. I never heard of such a history before. I disbelieved his full story/history. No doctor would advise a below 2 years kid to smoke cigarettes. And, what kind of parents put their below-2-year-kid to smoking (not passive smoking, active!!)? It seemed totally bizarre to me!
What do you think?
Okay. It is all for today. I am alive, healthy and thriving. How about you?
